So we got a batch of new Lenovo laptops.

Tried to install Office2013 on one. The office 2013 installer **** itself and refused to run. Weirdly, Office2007 installed without issues.

Digged a bit deeper, and found some sort of Office2016/Office365 preinstall which is very difficult to remove/uninstall

So now I'm going to download a win10 ISO to see if I can nuke the current windoze install and do a sterile install of Win10 sans crapware so commonly found on most of these laptops.

What a waste of time

Its not that hard most new laptops with windows 10 come with that crap pre-installed.

On the laptop in search just type apps and features then just uninstall the desktop apps or right click on the tile on the start "bar" and click uninstall, not that hard.

Derp durr. I so wish.

You do that. Then you create a new user account, and log in with that user accounts. And voila, the crapware's back. Uninstall it again. And Office2013 still won't install.

Been back and forward with the official Office201* removal tool. It removes office, tells you it's been removed, but still no luck with the Office2013 install.

Not going to waste my time and effort any more, just going to zap a sacrifical laptop and reinstall Win10 cleanly and see what happens.

Did Lenovo ever sort out that issue they had with the alleged spyware that was integrated with their bundled software? Better to just nuke the installs anyway as you can then get rid of the unnecessary fluff

If you do a Windows reset then it will install a vanilla version of windows without all the crapware. Thats easier and quicker than using an ISO.

I have also found the number of laptops and systems that arrive with just a generally dodgy system image is crazy. I may soon be resetting Windows straight out the box just to stop all these issues with the OS.

Once done there are files and folders to be removed if its a stubborn installation...
