You won't really notice the difference between 8ms, 5ms and 2ms....

And at R10k I'd rather get a Sony or a Samsung or even a Sinotech tbh

Sure? Go find the thread where Dolby actually explained the difference he saw between the standard and 100HZ versions before he made his final decission. ;) Anyway it's all in the eye of the beholder.

That is realy not the only feature to be stuck on anyway, so people must check and compare the pakage as a whole. The LG Scarlet range is nothing to scoff at.

I personally like the new 600hz LG 60PG70 60" Plasma TV for about R30000.00. I will be keen on and upgrade so will watch the prices on this one.

Was thinking about the LG 60" before I bought my Samsung 50". Just felt the features on the Samsung was way better than the LG as well that the Sammy looked better aesthetically.

For R10k you can get a 40" Samsung, 40" Sony or 47" Sinotech. All Full HD LCD. Choose one.

Yup - 50hz to 100hz is large pretty large.

On a PC monitor I can see the difference my old 19" 8ms and my 22" Samsung 2263 (dunno the refresh is though ...).

Add on topic, any one go to the AV expo this weekend at Sandton Convention centre? They had quite a few specials there :

A friend bought (albeit, old model) Sony Bravia Full HD 40" at R8,500.00

60''? is that the biggest you can get in retail stores?

Nope you can get a 63" Sammy Plasma but it costs about R55K. The 60" LG costs 30K.

Also, Game has the 50" full HD plasma (B550) for 15K if anyone is interested. There is a part of me that thinks that maybe I should have gone for this instead of the B650. (In terms of price)

I think the one I bought a year ago was the B550 ... was R30K then.

Could not live with it, picture was just too bad at that price range ... took it back.

Plasma? It was probably the A550. The B550 was only released this year. "2009 model".

The B650 is really great. It has a really good picture engine. I was just not sure it was worth the extra 7K but I still love it.

Yeah, sorry, was a PS50A550 FullHD plasma. Returned it, paid in R10K and got a KURO ... best R10K I ever spent.

A quick question, if someone can help me ... what is the distance required for optimal viewing with a 60" ?

secondly ... with DSTVHD ... i understand that only 1 or 2 channels are in HD, but wont the rest be upscaled automatically when you use your HD pvr ?

Example, when you play ps3, you can have a rca cable, a S-video cable, and then a HDMI cable. the format stays the same, but i gets better and better with every cable upgrade ...

please advise ...

60" would by abotu 3m as a rough thumbsuck I reckon....

Only 1 channel on DSTV is in HD.. the rest are upscaled, but they're still in 4:3 aspect ratio so will look strange, plus you can only upscale a certain amount.. the picture quality will still be crap in comparison to real HD feed.
