60" would by abotu 3m as a rough thumbsuck I reckon....

Only 1 channel on DSTV is in HD.. the rest are upscaled, but they're still in 4:3 aspect ratio so will look strange, plus you can only upscale a certain amount.. the picture quality will still be crap in comparison to real HD feed.

Well, currently i have normal dstv, and I await the HD installation this week.

mmm, I think dstv has 1 sport one also ... but will verify that ...

anyway, about the distance ... i think i am currently sitting 2.5m away, some looks good, others again really @#$@$#.

my fiance said, the more you move it backwards, the distanct, the better it gets. But i dont want to sit 8m from the screen, then it will look as big as a 42" again, if you understand where i am going ...

6 to 9 feet for a 60" FullHD, ie. about 1.8 to 2.7 meters, but I'm guessing you then really need to watch proper HD stuff ... at that distance bad SD stuff is really not gonna look that great ...

i dont know if someone has the new compact xtra view unit. I bought that as well, but i have a question ...

that is just normal DSTV right ? if i am going to setup HD, and then the extra view, is another dish required ?

NO. Just a quad LNB or switcher. Call Space TV in JHB/PTA for advice, info and prices

Reason for asking, I contacted LG now, I have a query, the TV switches itself off randomly ... mmm, strange ...

Hi Guys, lol, i found out why the TV shut itself down ...

We have another 42" LG in the bedroom, and we use remote blasters. So, we didn't thought EVER that it can be the remotes to be honest !

When we change something in the bedroom (DSTV wise), we use remote blasters to the living room. Thus, saying that, the 2 LG remotes works on both the 42 and 60".

Problem solved !

I dont know what model it is, but my 42" is about 3 years old. there is nothing wrong with the TV's ... just the remote frequencies are the same, which are stupid, but ja ... what can i say ?

ps, if you buy any LG in this or next month, you automtically get an extra 3 years of an extented warranty !

i bought a series 5 (with game discount) samsung 40" B530. Gonna have it wall-mounted soon. I spoke to a salesperson at game with regards to LG, seems they get returned a lot more often than samsung's or sony's.

Missed the new Samsung store Opening special (New store at canal walk). It was R8999. I paid R9800, not bad though. Sales person said the 20 they had on sale was sold within the first 15 minutes of the shop opening.
