Galaxy Note or the Galaxy S3

Hi chaps :),

Difficult to to choose, I've checked out the Note and damn it's awesome. The S3, well it's new and with quad core.

I have a 4meg ADSL uncapped at home so I get home and alles is here to read in a jiffy, no need for tablet use during the day as I'm office bound and the net is there as well. I have an iPhone 4 (not S) so an unspeakable similarity to the S3 is uncalled for. So basically I've answered my question - get the S3 - but something about it's build and cheapish look puts me off (or I'm more biased).

The Note is so much phone on a 300meg for either 6 or 12 months (24 months on the R 750 airtime package - a little over kill for my airtime usage). The S Pen and that awesome screen . I can take the 6 months 300meg and use my home and work wireless for the net but I really don't need tablet use during the day.

Pleeeeeassse help me guys, I'm in a real dilemma and you expert opinions would really help.

Need to decide by Monday, thank you in advance :)

For me it is the Note. That larger screen makes a huge difference and the processor is more than capable to handle anything. I will never again be able to live with a smaller screen so my obvious next upgrade must be a Note 2. The web becomes far more usable with the larger screen and watching videos/movies is a joy. The phone size is not a problem as the device is very thin and easy to pocket. Be however prepared for lots of "What is that?" questions.

And if you are a keen Kindle reader like me the Note hits all contenders out of the park.

+1

The only place the GS3 beats the Note is CPU cores. Considering Android does not even use multi cores properly (changes with 4.1 apparently) I would say the Note is the winner overall.

If you have a choice, go with the note. Once you get used to the screen, everything else just seems puny and childish.

And yeah, be prepared for at least three "what is that? A PHONE!?!?" and "how do you even hold it? Like up to your face when you make calls?" questions a day.

Depends how big your pockets are. Also it probably helps to have massive hands, for both phones, but especially the Note.

Lol. I am an average size dude and handle it fine. It is only when you initially get it that it feels like you said. Wears off though.

If you can wait, I will go with the Note 2. It will be released in about October I think. I think the Big Screen and Quad core will be awesome.

Thank you for the replies :), so you agree the S3 is ugly? I've heard of the S3 exploding.

It is actually quite a good looking phone. I just prefer the Note over it.

My wife had her first glimpse off the GS3 at the office the other day (she has a GS2). She asked me last night why Samsung made a phone that looks like it was made for gay guys :) We all have different opinions I suppose.
It was the white that formed that opinion.

Here's a thought: the Galaxy S3 screen is the same height as the note, it is only slightly less wide.

And I believe the pebble blue is not in stock yet...and I'm straight :)

Yeah but the Note just holds it better.

The back removal of the Note is easier and one may crack the S3's back cover. So although the Note is older, it's better? S'pose the S Pen is the only advantage over the S3?

Though a lower pixel density.

Which caters for the S Pen I think? Went to Musgrave MTN store and yes the screen on the S3 is the same length as the Note with the Note's being wider. Oh and the S3 comes with the ICS, is it a mission to upgrade the Note to the ICS?
