Hi Guys

I have just got a galaxy s7 and I find that the device gets quite warm. It tends to happen when I watch youtube but sometimes during general use. Does anyone else have the same issue or is it just a fault with my phone? I am using telkom mobile so it could be due to poor signal as well

The processors in phones are very powerful these days.
In general use if the phone does not get warm it is nothing to worry about.
Remember you are also using a lot of battery power when watching videos.
As with anything the energy used are transferred in to electric energy and the other to heat energy.
But Let the phone experts help here

Yorkie is right. Video's are quite processor/gpu intensive, so the phone will get hot. The same will happen when playing games or during long calls or when using GPS and navigation.

Do you have a phone case on the phone? I have noticed on my phone that a lot of the heat is trapped inside due to the case restricting airflow around the phone. Remove the case and the heat dissipates quite nicely.

Remember that phones will typically go into a "low-power" mode when not actively being used. This means the processor will run at a lower frequency (some cores might be switched off), some of the other non-critical functions are disabled, etc. This is all an attempt to save power, but will also keep the phone cool.

Unless it gets literally too hot to touch, I won't worry too much. When it gets hot again, just stop watching video's for a couple of minutes and you'll see it cools down.
