Has anyone used the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus? I'm thinking of going this route for my next phone upgrade. My phone works nicely and have something else to play with would be nice.

Or would I be better off saving the cash and just buying an Asus Transformer?

I used one as my main phone for about a month and I really liked it. As a phone it's pretty bulky - getting a call when you're out and about can lead to a few strange looks :)

I like the size a lot, and one of the main reasons I used it was to see whether I really need a tablet as well as a smart phone. I can't really see myself walking around with a ten inch tablet, but I could fit the 7.0 Tab into my pocket (just) and that makes it quite easy to carry. The app I use the most is Kindle, and I think the 7 inch form factor is perfect for that. Speed wise it is pretty good too, and the screen is bright and crisp.

I think the only thing that bothered me was that there's no way to get ICS on it at the moment (although rooting is very simple), and not much info on whether Samsung will be updating it any time soon.

I liked it, and if I get a tablet it will definitely be in that size range.

I use the 7 Plus daily. It is a great little tablet but as mentioned no official ICS or ICS custom roms for it out yet (but it is coming). Great for reading (light, thin and just the right size). The Samsung implementation of Honeycomb has its pains and I eagerly await the release of an ICS rom for it (the moment that hits the streets I will load it. Samsung's Honeycomb firmware have problems with any app needing to monitor modem data like signal performance and data usage). The available RAM is a problem at times (quickly hits the limit so app use must be managed) but a message do pop up that will allow the user to close some apps or terminate some processes. The Tab 2 will hit the market soon but I can't see what benefits it has over the 7 Plus.

When you compare the 7" Plus with the larger 10" tablets (like the Transformer) you have to decide how important size is. I find the 7" tablets to be far more practical for daily use (easy to carry just about anywhere and easy to "hide" in trouser pockets). I have both but I use the 7" far more because that screen size is good enough for doing most things throughout the day. When at home relaxing and doing some content consumption the 10" definitely works better. At work however the 7" is king.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just upgraded to the P6200 since I couldn't wait any longer. Now to wait for it to be delivered.

Same here, could not wait any longer. I am on a crappy (actually outdated otherwise decent Nokia) phone and the decision was between a low end phone and high end tablet or the other way round.

Hope I don't regret it ... reading pdf files is important to me and I could not find any youtube demos of this with the new 4.7" phones. I went along to Games and sent a couple of PDF magazines to the P1000 and P6200 demo models and was generally satisfied with performance. 1024*600 is the bummer, but I can live with it - I hope. The ZTE Smart Tab 7" has 1280*800 but too many user reviews were reporting faulty units - not worth the hassle.

The 7.7" P6800 would have been ideal, but with the MTN deal at R199x24 maybe I can divert the savings for a mid range phone.

The 7 Plus is a good little tablet. I don't think you will regret your choice. 7" is the way to go for real tablet use.
