Just in time, I have bugger all backups of my laptop - and the drive started crashing.
Best of luck sourcing 1, if they tell you it's sold. Request a 'call back voucher or rain check'
I took both apart.
Very shoddy workmanship.
Both of them the screws holding the drive in place were loose, in the one drive two of the screws were not even attached (rattling around the enclosure).
Hot glue to hold things in place, dry joints and other issues.
is it sata or sata2 drive? any hints on taking it apart?
Is it the standard SATA connection?
They were both USB3 and yes, stock standard 5400RPM sata drives.
Value for money or not?
Have never experienced any issue with any hard drive whatsoever, maybe you born under a unlucky star.bought 2, both died in under a year.
You tell me![]()

lol, Oldest normal drive I have is a 120meg in working order.
Oldest external I have still working is 160GB
I have about 8 externals, all older than the two verbatims, all working.
You really just did have bad luck then. There is nothing different about these drives, they are just repackaged Seagate drives.
