Right, personal attacks now because I think the charge does not = the benefit

I can get the same lower pings through a normal SOCKS proxy  SSH bla bla bla. I liked the idea of using Gamemax as it's SA specific. But seeing that you guys are being so touchy about it.... stick Gamemax up your arse for all I care.

Don't believe me... I'll gladly PM my account name to someone from Gamemax to see how much I used it. And I will not pay R 69 for the amount of time I used it....

Sorry i loved the idea of my account being safe via gamemax and and and. Clearly you have an axe to grind so go ahead, it might make you sleep better at night :D

you still a cheapskate ;) :D

anyways. On this note i'm off of wow for a while anyways... so ill be back on gamemax and wow later on.

you do realize that wow uses aprox 1 gig a month; and some one has to pay for that bandwidth that passed through gamemax and we all know that bandwith is not cheap in south africa... strange that its close to 1 gig per month price hey

That must be the the most stupid excuse Gamemax can ever use. (Not you them if they play this card) The server is hosted where ? UK ? It's uncapped/unlimmited at a stupid arse standard fee. If they try that excuse = EPIC FAIL

Ok lets look at it this way then.

Server hosted in the UK for 80 pounds a month = Unlimited Bandwidth.

I still fail as to why they are charging R 69.00 per month

Well as I said earlier I stopped using gamemax before it went live. You can can see in the other gamemax thread that I stopped using it while it was still free. It just wasn't for me. Charge or no charge.
If it works for others then good for them. If I could, I'd run on shaped with gamemax and save about R60-R70 but I can't. Hell maybe I'd even pay for unshaped and gamemax if I could be sure it would stable (once you've tasted sub 300ms it's hard to go back) but no I can't. So it's just plain unshaped for me.

But I thought you can do this for free? Why do you want to pay for a server now?

Challenge is open, Mr Poodle: Prove it.

lol, ofc I can run it from a normal SOCKS proxy  Having to prove it is like proving to you 1+1 = 2

You where here trying to be smart. So I thought I'll try and show you how easy and cheap it is to run the Server (Through SSH) for 80 pounds a month.

Now you pls explain to me that if you have 200 SA players using Gamemax why do we need to be raped for R 69 a month ? So that said person can put R 12k in his pocket just like that :D

Good luck mate....

Hi all,

We though it was time to jump in here before it gets out of hand.

Thank you Roosta for defending gamemax, i guess you had a good experience with gamemax like many others.

To stop the flaming maybe all the people not pissed off about us ending the free beta should just stop posting anything and let pitbul get it out of his system.

The other comment's are valid concerns and we are dealing with the SSL issue and it should be done soon.

The lag problem, you have to look at it from our side here. Less than 1% of people reported any problems at all, and out of those 1% most were firewall, network drivers or just telkom/rain problems. So when 99% of the people including our team/guild/friends don't experience problems that were not there when there was no gamemax, surely you can see why we would assume the problem is not with the server. We would be glad to try and assist in anyway and give clues/assitance about what could be the problem but there is only so much you can do without sitting at the PC in question.

Then there is the recent reports from all over the world from people NOT using gamemax that lag and disconnects have increased drastically lately, here are some links for you.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13275701255&sid=1&pageNo=17

Its completely understandable again how this could be associated with GameMax especially for people who started using it recently when these problems started, i know i would be blaming gamemax for sure.

I cannot explain the claims from some people that certain problems don't happen when they don't use gamemax so sorry about that.

Bottom line is we are doing our best and have invested a LOT of time and money into this, and from the feedback we are receiving we did make a difference for a lot of the players, we will continue to improve and build onto that as best we can.

For now all we can do is provide you with the option of using gamemax as is, if you are not happy or have a problem simply stop using it. If there is enough interest great, if not we will simply cut our losses, shutdown and get on with life ;)

Now allow pitbul to flame and get it out of his system, all that needed to be said is said i
believe and lets all get on with our lives and enjoy WOW (and maybe do some work ;)).

Pitbul feel free to mail us about any concerns you might have as i will not reply to you on
anything you ask here because i really don't like or want public flame wars, and i'm sorry you feel the way you do.

Now please lets stop this flame ;)

Hope to see you all on the servers, if not best of luck to you.

P.S. Just a word of warning, try steer clear of anonymous proxies as your connection will not be encrypted and you could easily get hacked.

Pitbull, you are delusional and I recommend you seek help.

bwahahaha.

Should I draw you a picture of how to do it ?

Ty for the clear post Gamemax rep. As said before I have been using it for almost a week tomorrow. I would gladly have continued using it if the price was more in line with the service provided. I clearly stated that i will not be paying R 69 a month for such a service. (Yes I'm a cheap skate :p)

If the price was in the region of R 50 we would have had a deal. If I'm not allowed to vent at the price then so be it. I wish you guys goodluck with your venture.

I see most of the people on here have opted not to use it going forward. Maybe when you get the price right I'll sign up ;)

R69 is about what I expected.

I've only had a problem once with the Gamemax service, which was my latency shooting up to 1100ms for a few minutes, but being fine again afterwards.

I've used it every day since the beta opened and I can honestly say I have nothing to complain about. Having the latency that the service provides me with is easily worth R69.

And just for the record, Pitbull, seeing as you deem anyone that remotely compliments Gamemax's service in this thread as an employee of Gamemax, I have no affiliation with them, except for using their service.

Keep up the good work guys, most of us appreciate it this service, even if SOME people in this thread don't.

I am not slandering gamemax as i was a big supporter of it, just the facts are that i had issues with it. And they caused me to stop using it all together. If it worked perfectly for me then i might take up the subscription but truth of the matter it doesnt. And there have been latency issues with it aswell, well at least for me. And it was a perfect sunny day, could have been a peering issue who knows.

Hey Gamemax, glad to see that you are one of the companies that realise that support doesn't only need to happen over the support 0860 number that you have to wait 10 minutes before answering *cough Iburst cough*

I've had comunication with your support through email regarding using gamemax on Vista7. I really enjoy using your service, like somebody said on a previous post, once you 'feel' 300ms, it's hard to go back. But, like I pointe out in a previous post, Sockscap does not work on 64bit platforms of Vista or 7. You proposed that I use Proxycap...but this costs $30 :S

I'm not going to continue using gamemax if there is not another solution for this. Just from a business sustainability point of view, I propose you find a work around for this before Windows 7 becomes the OS of choice.

Since I like adding 2 cents here and there....

1. I like Gamemax, greatly improved PVP experience, lowered ping for tanking and healing, feels like I can keep up with the rest of the raid now. The product itself is good, if implemented correctly....

2. Which brings us to the next point. If you have done a registry hack, you need to undo it in order to fully benefit from Gamemax. Running a registry hack and Gamemax for me has resulted in higher than usual bandwidth (25-28 MB per hour), and lag spikes, even thou latency is staying in the green/yellow. undoing it solved that problem.

3. WoW community as whole is experiencing DC and lag/spike issues since the patch. This in turn shouldnt be associated with Gamemax as the main culprit.

4. Unfortunetly I do have to share the feelings Pitbull shares, I already pay high connection costs, high gaming fees and a times where I need to save some money (might be getting rentrenched with the rest of the world), I cant afford to pay for this service. Maybe in future it might be viable for me, or with the new optic undersea cables carrying higher bandwidth not necessary....only time will tell.

I would pay this if I could afford to. But having another monthly expense going off in WoW's name is just getting too much. Especially with the exchange rates atm.

Also I have found that in 25man raids, I get massive lag in some points, which myself and a friend have both pinpointed to Gamemax's doing.

My philosophy about latency is this and will always be, I would rather play with 400ms or 600ms that stays constant than awesome low latency which varies from time to time.

Consistent game experience = consistent expectations from me, otherwise if it jumps I would end up quitting because the experience is not dependable

I had the same issue, but it was resolved by re-enabling the nagle algorithm IOW remove "the wow reg hax". (Go read their FAQ)

Here's the reg hax: http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?topic=3031.0
Just reverse the changes.

Quite honestly it looks like RoosTa is from Gamemax and I cant stand this persons posts here.
Its ppl like that who would make others stop using a service like this. Get him to shutup pls.

If people have concerns you address them, you don't get/let a forum monkey to speak for you either out if his own choice or hiding behind another nick.

I've also had the lag spikes, but I can't blame gamemax for that as there can be allot of other things causing that. Its nice to play with a decent ping and I've enjoyed testing the service for the most part and submitting feedback.

R 200 - 3gb acct (more if u play allot as gamemax seem to use more bw for wow)
R 150 - 1 month gametime
R 69 - gamemax

Thats already R 419 to play just 1 game per month. Why do we do sh#t like this?

Most people are already trying to cut down on their costs with things going as they are here in SA. This was probly starte to give some players and their friends a better ping and then someone got the idea to make money out of it.
Now here is the possibility to make quite a bit of money a month after some initial work. Not a bad idea. Its a business and out to make money obviously. Its not South African players trying to help out the rest of the SA gaming community.

If you want something like that, then get 100 SA wow players 2gether. Each pay about R10 a month and get some who has the knowledge to set it up. That would be a service by SA wow players for the community.

R69 a month for a service that basically gives you half the ping you have without it. Just make use of the trial and decide for yourself....

My opinion? Its really a decent service, but I do feel its a bit expensive.
