Yeah tyan is usually pretty solid for workstation/server boards.

It's been my experience that all motherboards of a particular generation are exactly the same with minor cosmetic differences.

I would buy the cheapest motherboard possible that would comfortably run my target CPU, preferably overclocked 24/7. VRM's etc and cooling of those VRM's are more important in this case.

To satisfy your need for 10gbit networking I would then also pick up something like this:

Put everything in a closed case and you're sorted with the disco lights.

As for ASRock Rack, I've had too much drama. Too many failures, and too much trouble getting stuff RMAd. Their boards do look nice though!
It is a pity that Supermicro doesn't do anything beyond EPYC boards. Those would be better, but it's almost as if Intel moneyhats them.

As for Tyan, I have seen some online listings, but I haven't looked at any of the Chinese retailers yet.

Now I just need to figure out how to get hold of it :) This will probably be for next upgrade though - need to save up a whole lot to afford the CPU!

No they are not, just the vrm brand & design differs hugely between brands, models & revisions. The differences can be massive, x570 thermal throttling on several boards while others chug along at 60/70C
