HOW HEALTHY ARE COMPETITIVE COMPUTER GAMERS?

We are looking for 3 gamers interested in taking part in a research study looking at sleep, health and mental performance at UCT

To take part you must:
  • Reside in Cape Town
  • Be aged 18 - 30 years
  • Primarily be a computer gamer
  • Play competitive (i.e. ranked, placement) matches/tournaments/leagues regularly
    • Example: VS Gaming Leagues (all); Mettlestate Leagues (all); Dota 2 Battle Cup; Dota 2 ranked matchmaking; CSGO Competitive matches; ESEA; Billosoft; ESL Play Leagues (all)
  • Play games at least 14h per week
  • Have been exposed to gaming at least 5 years
  • Not be taking any medication that affects sleep (like Ritalin, Concerta, Cannabis or sleeping pills)

What is involved?
Complete questionnaires around sleep and gaming habits, have your body composition measured (height, weight, blood pressure), donate 10ml of blood to assess your risk of diabetes and perform 3 tests on a computer to assess your mental performance (across 2x 1-hour sessions)

What do you get out of it?
Comprehensive feedback on your health and sleep; we also reimburse you R150 toward travel expenses.
