Hey everyone,

I need advice on purchasing a decent pair of headphones for gaming and the occasional movie.

I use my laptop for gaming and movies, so need a pair that is wired, with preferably only a 3.5mm jack for input. I'm not interested in surround sound or wireless or force feedback headphones, they just need to have decent sound quality and a microphone is optional i guess.

Any recommendations and personal experiences would be greatly appreciated, and perhaps links to websites (like Takealot or Kalahari)where i can maybe purchase them would be great too :)

Budget +- R800

Thanks everyone!

Oh I love Logitech products, they have awesome build quality and just look good.

Not the biggest fan of those low profile headphones though :(

The G330 is very nice, I have a pair but dont use them anymore. I got a G35 now that I use, but my ears start to hurt after a while. Those G330's are light and great quality. You cant go wrong.

It's not actually true 7.1, it's two ginormous speakers in each cup with Dolby doing surround emulation and that's optional, you can also run it in regular stereo.

Now seeing as how there are other people in the house who might be sleeping, putting my speakers to full is not always a option, thus the headphones. And in a game like BF3 these things are truly astounding.

Why are Sennheiser headsets so obscenely priced in SA ? I mean much of our electronics is more or less in, more or less, the same price bracket than it is in for eg. Holland, but the PC-350/360 headset can be bought in a retail shop over there for 140 - 150 euro.

Seeing as I will be going there soon, it looks like I will be sitting tight with my broken headset here, and bring myself a gift back from overseas.

Yeah I understand :) That's why I got my head phones. I just like them light.

I had a set of the Logitech G330's and while I initially enjoyed the low profile aspect of them, I soon found that they started to hurt after an hour or two. Also, the foam covering on one of the speakers soon tore loose. I replaced them with the Corsair Vengeance 1500 Series headphones and I haven't looked back. Check em out. If games and movies are what you are going to use them for, I recommend these. They also fall within your budget of R800.

Good luck...
