hi All,

Please can somebody point me in the right direction, I have 20k to spend on a new PC, which I want to use for both work and play, not sure if it is possible to have a pc in this price range, that will be VR ready and a with reasonably up to date CPU available? Would be nice to be able to play the newer games on offer as well?

any advice would be great,

regards

Chris

Need some more specifics. Do you need monitor, keyboard, mouse, VR set etc? Or just the tower?

In addition to the above, which VR set are you using..? They mostly have the same requirements except for the HTC vice which needs a higher performance graphics card..

Everything is just so damn expensive with our junk status, weak currency and imports.

I would wait a bit for the nvidia 3000 series to drop and then look at used gpus.

You can do a 6c/12t intel/amd system with 16gb ram etc.

Do you have any existing components like psu, ssd, hdd, case you can use towards a new build?

Wait till after Nvidia's new card lineup and Facebook Connect, things have a potential to get real interesting dependant on the specs of the new Quest coming out in terms of wireless streaming. Wireless streaming depends a lot on latency (Compression/Decoding/Encoding), with the combination of Wifi6, newer snapdragon,(if the case) and the ability of the newer cards to also directly decode an image directly onto an M2 SSD instead of leaving the task to the CPU.

You could not only get a good VR set up, but also one without without wires, that has much lower latency, better image quality that can be done today.
