I am stuck in this dilemma now, whether to go for a full on gaming headset ie. the Razer Chimaera. Or to go for an audiophile set ie the sennheizer HD598's.

G35's are very good at directional sound, get them if you play a lot of FPS.

I've owned Sennhesier HD 495, HD 570 and now HD 598 & roccat kaves. i tested my mates G35's for a week and i've come to the conclusion.
Gaming headsets are good for gaming.
Audiophile headsets are good for absolutely everything.

That's very well put. I've had cheapy Sennheiser HDs. I prefer my Roccats. But I've never tried an expensive stereo headset. Maybe some day.

The vibration on bass from the Roccat just adds something very special to gaming.

Xonar xense, you cannot go wrong. You get the best of both worlds.

Yeah I just need to get a new sound card, using an old Creative sound card I got years ago. Looking at getting a Xonar DX

It makes me feel like I am in the game :D

Exactly. It's ridiculous. I still get a sheepish grin on my face every now and then in games. Had a lot of said grins in Skyrim. Awesome audio. Now deep vibrant surround sound is AS important to me as good graphics.
