I'm in Durban area and play on Twilight. I get between 50 - 80 ms ping on 7.2 modem. It's awesome until it does the funky d/c thing.

Using MDMA hasn't helped my cause. Anyone else got some ideas?

Can anyone confirm Starcraft 2 works even up to 4v4 matches?

I know someone who is struggling with lag on SC2 even though he has perfect latency and signal and on the 21mbps modem. Every random interval between about 5-20 seconds he will lag and cause everyone else to wait for a moment which gets pretty annoying when trying to build and micro manage.

Can't figure out why :/ not sure how PC savvy he is but confirms there is nothing else downloading no viruses no issues with pinging local or international etc...

I myself would like to can my DSL in favour of CellC but being a Starcraft player myself I am now a little nervous to go for it when it launches in Gauteng.

Cellc Works great with gaming. I am playing Call of Duty: Black ops and I am getting no lag. :)

@ Jonny Two shoes, I had a problem similar to that. He should check his light on the dongle if it goes dark blue and back to light blue while playing then his signal strength is probably not very good. (If that happens the dongle is switching protocols from HSPA+ to 3g according to mdma) Use MWconn to check what the real signal strengh is. Cellc app gave me a signal strenght of 98% but it really was only 30%. After moving my dongle a bit a got a perfect spot which gave me 40% signal and the problem was solved.

Switching from 3G to HSPA and back is normal. Your modem automatically does this in relation to the amount of data you are transferring. Signal strength is however important. So it is worth while using something like MDMA to check were in your house the best signal is.

Yes I agree. It is normal but mine did it while I was downloading steam updates or anything else, using skype and playing online. Now that the signal strength is better, it only switches when the connection is idle.

No problems here, average around 80-90ms for local and was getting an average of 120-140ms for a cs 1.6 server in spain. I cant wait to get SC2 :D

Edit: 21mg modem

Anyone on CellC, please could you ping 84.45.39.237 and let me know the result? I'm fed up with Telkom and need an alternative, but I need to make sure international latency is going to be acceptable.

How many hours of gameplay (approximately) can you get from the 5GB Cell C (for FPS)? I am thinking of getting it since Telkom doesn't want to add more Dslam ports in my area.

Guys, last night I was gaming MW2, and it was lagging a little bit, but it was still playable, (my bullets would just take a bit of time to hit). I asked the guys which country they were in. They said austria, UK, etc :-| wow, I was surprised, and am impressed.

But if it's a local game, and the host has a good internet connection, then it's excellent, feels the same as 4mbit ADSL, maybe even a bit better sometimes.

Advice, play on german or dutch servers if you wanna game international (uk etc tend to lag). Local always best though (you will get no lag on local).

Although, I'm on EDGE, much more happy than with iBurst. No disconnects, no lag spikes, just normal MMORPG gameplay.
