hey guys,
i've been really pleased with all the responses to my thread. thanks a lot! just to let you know that i have started writing reviews and editorials for a gaming blog called el33tonline. they have a whole lot of competitions running at the moment where you can win new releases, so maybe check them out sometime. i'd also appreciate it if you could read an article or two of mine and leave a comment. i posted a review of mgs: peace walker today and tomorrow it will be god of war: ghost of sparta's spot in the limelight. i also wrote an editorial the other day about the games i rate as having the best looking pre-rendered backgrounds of all time.

p.s. my cell c connection is still holding up well. certain games have lag but that's expected when the people we play against are on the other side of the world and there are no dedicated servers. local play should be perfect - all the games of fifa i've played with locals have been totally lag-free. so i guess we just need to use forums like this one to gather a group of locals together for our online frag-fests. i play a lot of uncharted 2 so if anyone is also into that game's awesome multiplayer please drop me an email. shot!

i have the same opinion of Cell c's new offering but
the only issue i had was with my PSN downloads as they were all corrupted ?
and i could not find a game as my connection dropped to a measly 200kb when i tried to find a game hence i could not but my major concern is the downloads that corrupted
that was updates and demos??
help??? as i asked for a refund but would like to keep it if it works please

It may not be cell c. There was a problem with a firmware update (3.50 and 3.55) which has said to be the cause of all PSN downloads have a corrupt data error msg. It could also be that your HDD corrupt.

So your HDD checks out fine and whn you download with a differnet 3g or adsl its fine?
ya the hdd is cool i've tried a 3rd speed stick last night = first 2 patches corupted but i retried and canceled the download(ie install patch from cache) and then it went thru but would not install properly but it requested to download it again
then it worked and 3 patches worked after that then i tried the big gt5 patch and that just bombed all the time and i tried a demo and that bombed 3 times
i'm now trying the ps3 proxy workaround which seems to be working. i could find a match in 5 seconds in medal of honour but blackops is a no go couldn't find a thing ????? same with mw2??? i'm lost as i can surf upload and download small items but i noticed
anything biger than 150 mb becomes corrupted ??? is it a ps3 issue or cell c issue
as i said if i use telkom or vodacom it downloads fine?

I haven't had any issues, and I've downloaded nearly 2GB of PS3 stuff this month.
ps3proxy app that u can download to use as a proxy then u can use your pc to download the patches and demos at home or work as it captures the ftp link when u start the downloads then u can upload it via the ps3proxy app to the ps3

damn i wish i was u anything that u doing different i can't think its my pc as i tried my laptop and my desktop and i get the same result and the machines are basically clean ie no sofwate starting up etc

you shouldn't be experiencing any problems with downloading from ps3 or xbox live. i have both consoles and download about 10 gigs worth of demos and patches a month - i haven't once had a corrupted file or a dropped connection. online play is also smooth on the whole. i run a lan cable from my pc to my ps3 and xbox and share the internet connection on windows xp. i've set the ps3 and xbox to automatically detect my internet settings - i didn't have to go through a proxy or anything. i use the black cell c speedstick and 3x60gb data sims. the top download speed i've got on www.speedtest.net is 8mbps and the ping to joburg from durban is usually between 60 and 70ms. please feel free to pm me if you're experiencing trouble getting your cell c 3G connection to cooperate with your ps3 or xbox. i'd be happy to help in any way i can! p.s. i started this thread.

hi thanks tom i dunno what to do cause if i download straight to the ps3 it corrupts but if i download to a pc and inject the patches it should be fine will check that 2night but i'm sure it would be fine
is there anything in win7 that i can check as that is the only difference i can see between me and other people
but its only with patches and demos that are about 100mb and bigger ???? so that confuses me cause if i had an issue it shouldn't even attempt to download let alone complete it?? help?
nice man!! anyone know what is the issue with blackops or maybe my issue hehehe cause battlefield and medal of honour is sweet online but i can't find a game with black ops and mw2?

Blac ops on 360 uses ping to choose available games. Even if you on SA live it uses uk hosted games to search. The bets way to find games on xbox live for FPS is :
1. Get a game that supports dedicated servers eg bad company 2 and MoH. (only 2 that I know off)
2. Add friends who play the game on xbox live and join thier games, this works beast for cod BO.
use http://www.xbox360gamers.co.za/ to use option 2. You have to register and generally add the top 20-30 to your friends list and you'll meet more people as you game online. BTW use the headset cos it makes joining sa games easier as people can invite you to a party.
thanks bud i was thinking that too thou was just wondering as other people got no issue finding games but i think they do the same ie use their friends list damn need to repopulate my liust again as i was dropped from all my friends cause of not being online lol

I live in bergvliet and I got the 3g 7.2mps stick the week it came out, and it didn't work, the best conections speeds I was getting were 2g, i play GW and my ping was 1000+ so I returned it. If anyone lives in the bergvliet area and has the stick could you tell me if it's working better now? tyvm
