Several men held up three armed security guards at gunpoint and led them to a chalet at Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife's (EKZNW) Kosi Bay camp early on Monday morning, according to a statement from Manguzi police

This is very sad :(

This is by far the most spectacular part of the SA coastline. Only 10 vehicles are allowed to enter the Bay section at any given time of the day. I had the pleasure of being in Kosi Bay for a day fishing some years back. And now this happens there

So much for showing my family one of the most beautifull parts of South Africa's coastline one day :(

I go to a place very near Kosi and on the odd occasion I've wondered what the hell you do if you get in that sort of trouble out there because for one thing, there's no phone reception and also it's a 1 hour 4x4 drive to the nearest tarmac.

I'm sure we can expect more of this sort of thing in these areas as long as our useless gvt allows anyone and everyone to pile across our borders. At least, hopefully, if they are Zimbabweans, they'd be doing it out of sheer desperation and not sport so the outcome may be less violent.

I agree though Pitbull, it is such a beautiful area and should always be there for all of us to enjoy.

Could be Mozambiqueans? But probably locals.

My dad's friend is one of the people involved in the setup of a task force back there a few years back - 1997/98. The task force was combating a route the car theft sindicates used to get vehicles through the border close to Kosi bay. The base was setup between Sodwana and Kosi Bay.

They managed to put a stop to the trafficing of stolen vehicles through there. But now it seems to have started again. Real realy sad. The locals in Kosi bay still use fish traps to catch fish in the river when the high tide breaks through the banks and force 1000's of fish through the river. Very friendly people and they sell the fish there to the visitors. I would love to take a family there one day and show them that awesome place.

I hope they deal with this very quickly as it is a damn shame. :(
