Sharks Director of Rugby Gary Gold was upset with a few of the calls that went against his side in their Super Rugby loss to the Hurricanes in Wellington at the weekend.
With the Sharks trailing 21-17 in the 61st minute, they appeared to score after Marcell Coetzee dotted down following a powerful driving maul close to the Hurricanes tryline.
Referee Chris Pollock referred the decision upstairs and eventually disallowed the try for what he called “changing lanes”.
While the Sharks did score a few minutes later to take a 24-21 lead, they eventually lost the game 32-24.
“We were denied a try at a crucial stage of the game by a highly debatable decision where the Television Match Official didn’t even study the footage properly,” Gold told Netwerk24.
The Sharks mentor was also upset at another decision where he felt his side were denied.
“How the incident where Odwa (Ndungane) got injured when he kicked the ball - and was clearly taken out late with a shoulder - went unpunished is also hard to understand.
“The guilty party didn’t even get a card or penalty against him and play was simply allowed to go on with a lineout awarded to them. I find it incomprehensible.”
