Gauteng motorists will soon have to buy new number plates

As if this will fix anything that's broken with the system. You can't fix corruption with new regulations.
Band aid on an open wound. New new tamperproof plates to replace the existing tamper proof plates.
Meanwhile all law abiding citizens pay the costs and crims just keep finding ways to go about their business. Nuts.

Do they really think criminals are this stupid, simply remove your numberplate before commiting the crime.
See so many cars driving without number plates. Surely they have to drive past a cop at some point.

Exactly whats happening in KZN. All of us have to get new number plates, not only new vehicles. It automatically gives you a new number when you renew your licence disc. Then you have to buy plates from a government approved place
With a minister have shares in the "approved place"

We will all have to register our vehicles again. Normally this also implies having to go for a roadworthy. There will be long lines at those centers, unless this comment was part of his normal informal relationship with words.

The irony is most places can produce the plates to spec and the unapproved ones will produce any plate you want.

You mean everyone will have to buy their roadworthy again. There will be no queues.

Steal car, commit crime, vehicle is linked to the victim, not the criminal ?!

Everyone must register their vehicle … If you spend 30 consecutive days in Gauteng, it means your car must be registered in Gauteng.”

How will this work?? Curious.
They are going to put provincial border posts in place. Office hours Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 16:00. Waiting times to be processed would vary but be no longer than 6-10 hours for each passing. The December holidays would be super exciting but with the 60-90 km long queues we’d have the added benefit that we’d have fewer accidents on the roads.

Also that’s all made up. The answer is who knows. Probably nobody knows

Better technology is necessary. The problem is no one takes Cecil John Lesufi serious any more.

Is this the result of that 12 year old whisky?

Lots of commercial vehicles may enter GP on a daily basis, so how's the 30 day rule going to work?

The premier said government will take advantage of this to launch new number plates that are “very difficult to copy and tamper-proof”.
Difficult is not the same as impossible - what's the point of the new plates if they can still be copied?

The registration of suppliers of number plates and pay fees for applications;
Yes, pay, pay, pay taxes and fees.

You can't uplift a country and increase productive jobs by increasing taxes and regulations.

My car still has this number plate:

Do I have to replace it?

Luckily my car is only up for a new disc in October. It will be sold by then and I won't be replacing it.
