"We need the armed response of our state. We need to organise all the security capacity of our democratic state to respond in a way we have not done before.”

"Our country is ungovernable. The criminals have taken over."

Gauteng Premier David Makhura told this to residents of Kagiso, in the west of Johannesburg, during the second leg of an imbizo by Police Minister Bheki Cele.

Residents complained to government officials about rampant crime, which they blamed on illegal miners.

Some claimed that the government had let them down in fighting this criminality.

"Our country is ungovernable. The criminals have taken over."

"We must work with those countries. Some of them are ex-soldiers. They are military trained. Some were in the police force in their countries of origin.

At least one of them appears to be waking up to reality.

But, through all the denial, it is a little too late now. Better option is to find a way and negotiate with these criminals to find ways to form an alliance and rule or govern together - who knows, maybe even share in the loot?

I listened to his rantings and ravings to today and all I thought about is "why is the idiot allowed to propagate and encourage this? Why is he blaming everyone else except the ANC? What is going on?> Have we got a civil disobedience against the Sate taking place within the State?

It's not like he can blame the real cause (the ANC) for the problem of rampant crime and illegality, as he is part of the ANC.

@Solarion is right. This is just social engineering to bring lost votes back to the ruling party. After that's done it will go back to not giving a shoot.

Someone said one's, he wonder if this zama zama in the mines are not driven by someone high up. Zama zamas are cheap labor, no safety rules, no ppe, no expensive machines, they just go, get the "gold" and the boss get it cheap. But now they are out of control.
