Lesufi was speaking at the Safer Festive Season Programme at Isak Steyl stadium, Vanderbijlpark on Friday.
"We are now procuring 180 helicopter-size drones that will fly over Gauteng to monitor what is happening in the province...with the installation of ICT or communication network of six helicopters so that each and every region has its own helicopter to go to the sky when there is a criminal activity taking place,” he said.
Lesufi also said they are in the process of acquiring HD CCTV cameras to be installed in every corner of the province.
“Each and every area in Gauteng will be under the supervision of high-definition face, recognition, motion detecting CCTVs in every corner of Gauteng so that we can know what is happening in our province," he said.
