So with tomorrow's rugby game at Loftus, I was thinking of taking the Gautrain from Sandton to Hatfield.

Has anyone done this, where is the station in relation to the stadium? As it's the weekend there is no bus service, so can I just walk? I will be with some ladies, so is it a safe (relatively speaking) area especially since we will have to walk back to the station after game

ps: if walking, +- expected walk time between station and stadium?

Yes, you can walk. About a kilometer along a very busy road...

Gautrain are also offering a shuttle service from the station to the stadium. R6, I think.

We did this with the SA-Australia game last year.

Many other people also do this, so you won't be walking alone, you will be in a crowd, especially on the way back.

Probably more like 2km.

I got a sms from Gautrain about this, they'll be running a shuttle bus to Loftus. Maybe phone them and double check

thanks guys, that is a load off

a 2km walk is not bad, but a shuttle service will be a bonus seeing as I don't really want to miss the last train (20h30)

ps: just found this on twitter

@TheGautrain 19 Jun
Catch the Gautrain and a Gautrain shuttle bus to the Loftus double header on 22 June.

The station is the eastern-central part of Hatfield. Loftus is just south-west of Hatfield. It's about 2km. The utter retardation of the Gautrain busses not running AT ALL in the weekends is still a bit puzzling, but others here seem to be suggesting there will be a special bus this time.

There is a special shuttle this Saturday from the station to Loftus.

If you don't feel safe walking I can provide security.

just thought I'd share this with you all....

...you can walk to the stadium, however the Gautrain folks are pretty well organised and when we got off the train at +-14h10 there were 10 buses waiting to carry the passengers the stadium, and they drop you 1 road from the stadium. i am also pretty sure that these buses were there for every trip during the day. after the game these buses were waiting the same place we got dropped off, and we were dropped at the station with hundreds of other fans who took the train to their respective stops

all and all, I would recommend people taking the Gautrain for big sport events in pta, or maybe even just cheap cocktails in the square..lol
