Do a bit of research into bonobo chimps when you have some time. I'm guessing that there are many other animals that engage in intercourse for pleasure. I'm also betting we humans need to get our heads out our arses about just what animals do and do not do on instinct alone.

It dosn't really make sense for animals to be gay since they are entirely a product of natural selection. I reckon advanced behaviour patterns like mating are setup with failsafes like a very high sex drive and a low level of discrimantion to allow for different sub species to couple. The difference between a female and male poodle is very small but the difference between said male poodle and a great dane are huge, but the poodle will still give it a go and create some new disgusting hybrid that might stand a better evolutionary chance. Homosexuality is humans is another story and much like the DSM classification of mental dissorders I won't touch the topic...again.

And your poodle/great dane comparison is way off the mark. They're both highly -inbred subspecies, but the actual difference in their genetic make-up is so small as to be almost irrelevant. Dogs are the results of humans inbreeding wolves for certain traits over a few thousand years. That's hardly enough time for speciation to occur, and I don't consider one dog pomping another to be disgusting... although in your example I could consider it funny.
