Cape Town conveniently lies on a earthquake fault line so when the earthquake strikes the Christians can say: "See, we told you so"
The question that people wil ask is "Were they right?"
And maybe the scriptures are, thats for you to decide.

South Africa lies on a stable craton. Earthquakes assosciated with tectonic activity are highly unlikely in the region. Most are mining induced. I can't recall what the exact cause of the Worcester quake back then was but I think it had something to do with escalating or depleting ground water levels...which, ironically enough are largely anthropogenically induced.

People always use religion to justify their large base of ignorance. God is the great judge. Let him be the one to judge our character. As ***** said to a crowd wanting to stone a prostitute, 'Those without sin may cast the first stone.'

Also, being gay is not a debauchery... Nobody has questioned the right of a man and a woman to marry and to have children. That is there choice and a wonderful thing in its own right. However, all gay people want is to express their love and to be able to spend the rest of their lives with a partner.

Uh huh, so the quake last week in Tulbagh was due to the depletion of ground water? AFAIK there was quite a lot of rain the last year or so in the CT area and the ground water should be filled up. (PS it was Tulbagh not Worcester).

Nobody is stopping them from doing that now.

What they want to do is spend the rest of their lives with a "husband"

There was a quake in Tulbagh a week ago? Oh...never heard about it, lol. The Worcester quake occured in the 1960s...

Are there any specific cases where we have no written law and therefore prosecute on the basis of English common law? If this were the case why did South Africa, the UK and numerous other countries have specific written laws prohibiting particular activities?
.

AFAIK crimes such as murder are prosecuted under common law. A lot of stuff still has roots in Roman law too.

Well one is where you get married and the other isn't. Its obviously a big deal seeing as thats what the problem is all about.

Personally i disagree with them being able to get married. Altho I don't feel very strongly about it.

Luckily I'm not gay nor am I someone who has the power to make the laws which say they can or cannot be married. Either way if the bible is right then at least this is one area I won't have to worry about when I die.

Although i will have plenty of others i need to worry about.

many of the charges sexual predators and deviants face includes priciples of common law, if we start chipping away at common law, where will it end

Common Law is by definition fluid though, and acts that were illegal are sometimes found by the courts to no longer be illegal. e.g. adultery. I think the legal term is "abrogation by disuse" or something similar. So the fact that common law is, as you say, being chipped away, isn't really a big issue.

Yeah, well...each to his own I suppose. I don't want to get dragged into this argument but I believe everyone has the right to equal rights. A gay person is a human being and one should never let someone's sexuality be a determining factor of their character.

As is said, 'Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.'

According to the bible the number or variety of "sins" you committed in your life in no way determines your fate - it is only a question of whether the verse that BeLgaRion quoted applies to you.

As is said, 'Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.'

So how does that hurt anyone else?

**** knows dude. I guess homophobes like all other bigots are immune from having to give logical reasons for their oppinions.

I guess if Ma, Pa, Ou boet, Klein Sis en Die Dominie dink ook so, then you don't need reasons.
