End of DStv's sports monopoly
MultiChoice's DStv, through SuperSport, has monopolised live sports in South Africa for several years, but sports minister Gayton McKenzie wants it to end.

The minister says he is prepared to "go to war" against the broadcasters if they are unable to reach a resolution that would allow all South Africans to watch their national sports teams.

He does know how it works right?

He just wants a slice of the pie. And by pie i mean a donation to his offshore account
Seriously, I really don't think he's that kind of guy. He strikes me as straight-up. He's been there, done-the-crime, done-the-time. I'm looking to read his autobiography when I can get my hands on it. I have faith in him. Wouldn't vote for him, but he's there, and he's trying. I say "Watch this space".

Hope he's prepared to fork out the cash to make it worthwhile for the sporting bodies to not sell the exclusive rights to Multichoice.

Yup this, plus also sees how it works world wide

Well, sure, I mean if we just ignore the issue with the R3m he drummed up in donations for service delivery, that he then decided to keep for himself, he is a stand up guy!

Maybe he can contribute that R3mil that was supposed to go to service delivery but instead got pocketed by the PA towards negotiating the broadcasting rights?
For what one game??

Well, I guess we have worse politicians.

I am starting to like Gayton McKenzie. He has achieved more in a few months than what the ANC did not do in 30 years.
should have seen the dude grandstanding at the Israel rally, he was one of the only to get invited,
to me they are politicians, only time they are honest is when they are quiet.

Hope Canal+ can fork out that dough as MC has made it pretty unaffordable all on their own.

How did MC do that? Didn't know they control the sporting bodies
