Israel has carried out strikes on Gaza in response to threats from a Palestinian militant group, killing at least 10 people including a commander.
Local health officials said a young girl was among the dead and with dozens of others wounded.
It follows days of tensions after Israel arrested a top member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in the occupied West Bank.
The Gaza-based PIJ had threatened to hit back by bombing central Israel.

Reactions: Wut
Not sure they can even reach central israel.
With all those walls and things in the way.

But... china just started a few days back... jeez, barely enough time to update profile pics, hash tags and bios before have to change em again

Russia, China and Israel in a single month?! We're having a field day!

Terrible thing this. More innocents killed including a kid who had nothing to do with any of this. Just awful. The world seems to be standing on the edge of a precipice right now with evil men are intent on just pushing it even further. Evil never rests.
In your view, who are the evil men?

Those treating their fellow man in way that is contradictory to the principles set out in the UN Declaration of Human Rights.

So it's the UN who defines evil these days.
OK
The same UN that published an article on their site that it's actually good that poor people are hungry because it gives them drive, makes them work harder. How world hunger shouldn't be resolved because then...who will do the menial jobs that "normal" people wouldn't do?

They deleted that one very quickly.

Much of the hunger literature talks about how it is important to assure that people are well fed so that they can be more productive. That is nonsense. No one works harder than hungry people. Yes, people who are well nourished have greater capacity for productive physical activity, but well nourished people are far less willing to do that work.

That's not what that article is saying.
If anything it's saying overfed people become are lazy when compared to those in want.
Did you even read it to the end?
That's literally what the article is saying.
The ending logic is that because people are not hungry, they don't work as hard.
Implying that people should be hungry.

The last line being tongue-in-cheek changes nothing.

What exactly is being advocated for then? Oh we have too many full people to not want to end world hunger. Ok then. So the solution is...keep them hungry.

Oh no, it's actually...
*checks notes*
...a satirical article guys. Yeah, yeah satirical! :sneaky:

People giving the UN the benefit of the doubt for literally no deserved reason.

Nope, it's saying "the thinking out there is that"...
Not, people's attitude should be that...

It's not an advocacy piece but a piece provoking thought. Putting things into perspective.
Believe me, I'm certainly not a UN pundit, but you have to have the red mist to read what you just did in to that article.
Good lord

Ain't nobody got time for Semitics bombing each other. There are important things happening in the world
