Make up your mind?

As much as i'd like to think i'm not a GBVer, perhaps I haven't yet found myself in the situation where I find out otherwise? I don't think men grow up planning to be GBVers. I can only hope that I never end up being one but can we truly know what we're capable of or who we are inside? I've watched plenty of Discovery Crime and C&I channel to see that many men who GBVed had previously not shown any signs or indications or had a history to suggest that this is who they were. A lot of time it came as a complete shock to everyone that knew them.

I am pretty sure men make up the bulk of robbery, rape, murder, molestation, assault, tax evasion, smuggling, etc. Is it perhaps cultural? :p

Wonder if we will spend 10 pages debating what being a real man is?
You're daft if you think it's not. In some Middle Eastern countries rape doesn't even exist as a crime - marry her and you're Gucci.

Singapore had 9 murders last year. America had 17 000. South Africa has 58 a day. Interesting to see that countries like Nepal and Vietnam have murder rates up to 10x less than similarly poor countries in Africa, the Caribbean and South America. Buddhism did wonders for their culture.

By that token you also then consider yourself a potential pedo, a potential serial killer etc. The situation just hasn't presented itself?

In a weird way that almost absolves people of their crimes because hey - we're all potential rapists in the right situation - it's the fault of the situation for coaxing out of us a thing that was always latent. Which is bullshit. Seems like a strange stance to adopt given the fact that you're advocating for individual responsibility on one hand but then this 'nature made me do it' stance on the other.

No, you misunderstand me. Or perhaps I wasn't clear. Let me try again, perhaps with an analogy.

Since we don't know what causes men to do these things (we've seen it's not directly related to nature or nurture, some suggest "cultural"):

Bears are mauling people, not all bears maul people. A lot of bears do though. Do the bears who don't maul people absolve themselves of it? Or do they acknowledge that there are bears out there mauling people? What can the bears who aren't mauling people do? Do they just say "hey, we're not mauling people so leave us out of this?" What if it's something genetic in bears? We don't know what it is. (ok, we do with bears, but let's pretend that we don't. This is was terrible analogy, but I think you get it?)

I should've used pitbulls, that would have been better. Replace bears with pitbulls.

The point you just made is exactly the issue I had with your line...
We're all a potential GBVer. Regardless of nature or nurture. Ticking timebombs.
We don't know. So we're not all potential rapists. If there is some genetic component or whatever it is - the fact that the vast majority of men aren't rapists is a bigger sign that it only afflicts a small subset of the population as opposed to everyone.

Hence the challenge to your contradictory stance. Because we don't know. So we can't say ALL men.

Better cut off your penis in case you accidentally rape someone one day

Ridiculous example. We are sentient. Bears not. We can reason and make a choice. Bears not
