The point you just made is exactly the issue I had with your line...
We don't know. So we're not all potential rapists. If there is some genetic component or whatever it is - the fact that the vast majority of men aren't rapists is a bigger sign that it only afflicts a small subset of the population as opposed to everyone.

Hence the challenge to your contradictory stance. Because we don't know. So we can't say ALL men.

No, you're misinterpreting and misrepresenting me. I said potential GBVer, that's not the same as saying all men are GBVers. It's saying there's a probability of being one based on the available stats.

Better cut off your penis in case you accidentally rape someone one day

Wow Sinbad. You do know that rape can occur without one, right?

I can not believe the animosity and aggression here, and this is from the "decent" men. Why are *not all* men so angry?

All men are potential rapists.
All men could potentially get Huntington's disease.

Both those sentences seem false, because the things the predispose someone to exhibiting those 'diseases' is something found in only a small percentage of the population. So while you can wiggle it to seem like the sentence is technically maybe sort of true if you squint a bit, it's a sentence which serves absolutely zero utility imo in understanding the problem. Reads more like sensationalism.

Would you find it satisfactory if it was replaced by "any man"?

so much dumberistism around this.

there is more than one gender.

the victim of violence is not necessarily based on their gender but its punted as if it is.

we accept toxic femininity as women just being a bitch.

you can never stop all crime or harm against a specific gender.

meh.

why do people all of a sudden need to be reminded to respect others and not to lift your hand to women, are kids not getting enough pk's when being raised because parents want to be the cool ones.

also like this covid nonsense, people all of a sudden need to be reminded of keeping out of someones personal space or coughing/sneezing with your hand in front of your mouth, wash your hands etc. ..lol

Are you male?

Could you tell me how that is relevant?

How is it not? We are talking from the male perspective here. Seeing as it seems we are all guilty of being potential rapists because we have a penis.

If you are a female that has been sexually abused in the past; your viewpoint may be biased.

He's got a point though. As with many things in SA, I doubt it will get better though.

Firstly, GBV is not just rape? Could we stop with that?

GMV: We as women are the problem, admits every woman

Gross merchandise value
(GMV) is the total value of merchandise sold over a given period of time through a customer-to-customer (C2C) exchange site. It is a measure of the growth of the business, or use of the site to sell merchandise owned by others.

Women shop a lot? Okay.

Ok. Because men have a penis they they will beat women up. And then maybe rape them. Fair enough?

PS - I take it you are female then.

Splinter, i'm not sure what your angle is. There's a lot of GBV in the trans community too and they don't necessarily have penises. Why are some people here so hung up (excuse the pun) on penises? Penises are not the problem.

This thread was about men being the problem? Ok, but I think I see what are (trying) to say. You are transgender (or whatever definition you apply to yourself), and have experienced violence from "men" in your life.

I'm sorry for that. But please do not paint me with that brush. Or others.

And another one. I guess you can only be concerned about GBV if you've been a victim. Oh well. I'll convey the message to the others.

You are not answering my question or assumption at all. Merely accusing me (and others) without substantiation. Which I think is the point.
