Heya. Does anyone have a good contractor in their contacts list they'd like to recommend? I need to do some tiling, put in a ceiling and maybe do some painting - so not the biggest job.

There's so many of these guys out there and it's hard to pick one - so I'm gonna see if anyone can recommend someone they've worked with before.

Contemplate getting the guys directly yourself.

Surely some of your friends have had guys come in and do tiling or ceilings or something before.

Getting a contractor in just inflates the cost.

Yeah, friends have had tiling and ceilings done - but no one would recommend their contractors. I've also had a few guys do some work but in general I don't have anyone I'd use again. All my previous guys needed constant supervision and even then the work isn't up to my standards.

That's why I'm asking for recommendations.

The scope of work I need done isn't huge so I'm ok with paying a bit of a premium.

From personal experience of my recent home extension and granny flat expansion...

The smaller contracts are the ones where the contractor just drops the guys off and buggers off so there is no supervision there anyway.
