There are 3 anemometers in SSW feeding that site.Cape town /= SSW
Otherwise use the Windy app.

Could you possibly link to the SSW data? The only ones I can find are Kitebeach, Camps bay, Sunningdale, Melkbos and Van Riebeekstrand. There are 3 anemometers in SSW feeding that site.

I’d really strongly advise against doing that. My brother-in-law did that and the noise from the vibration is really loud. Also, the vibration caused the anchor to pull out the brickwork, and eventually caused a big piece of wall to pull away from the rest. They’re noisy enough, but thing them to the house makes it really intrusive.Thinking of using the wall for some stabilising by clamping the pole against the wall then only needing a few stabilising wires that I can anchor to the gables on the other end of the house.

EDIT: I was on a mobile earlier. It seems the SSW data requires a pro login![]()
Someone with experience! Do you know what size / type of turbine he had? Also where was he located?I’d really strongly advise against doing that. He started with a smaller one (around 2kW iirc), and upgraded to a bigger one (around 4mW iirc). He’s on top of a hill not all that far from Brits. He’s been off grid for a few years, but has had endless hassles and relies quite heavily on generators too. I think he underspecced his batteries and they died prematurely, lightning took out his inverter at one stage, the wall came apart, the blades needed balancing (possibly a bird strike, not sure).Someone with experience! Thanks. Some good first hand experience. He started with a smaller one (around 2kW iirc), and upgraded to a bigger one (around 4mW iirc). He’s on top of a hill not all that far from Brits. It’s been educational to watch from the sidelines, and he’s paid a lot in school fees.

I'd love to see the specs on that turbineThanks. Some good first hand experience.
Space is not really an issue but if I can find a solid mounting pole that's reinforced in a concrete slab that does not need reinforcing stabilising wires, I would rather go for that.
Something like this that CoCT has on the N2 but without the electronic billboard and a bit thinner. No idea how much these types of poles go for. Not sure what size wind turbine they have on these electronic boards.![]()
50w maxI'd love to see the specs on that turbine
They have a few on the highway here.I'd love to see the specs on that turbine
About 65% of the City’s electricity tariff income is used to buy power from Eskom.
That's what the 35%is supposed to coverThis line just shows that this is purely a money making scheme for municipalities. What are they doing with the 35% profit? If it's for network maintenance and administration then why have a new line for network access and administration?

I'm fairly sure the 35% goes to CoCT electricity projects separate from Eskom, like Steenbras. (ie the reason CoCT mostly stays a level below the rest of the country when there is loadshedding)This line just shows that this is purely a money making scheme for municipalities. What about the rest of the municipalities they also have additional on top.I'm fairly sure the 35% goes to CoCT electricity projects separate from Eskom, like Steenbras. (ie the reason CoCT mostly stays a level below the rest of the country when there is loadshedding)
No idea, you'd have to ask themWhat about the rest of the municipalities they also have additional on top.
