@signates , looking at your SOC graph, does your battery ( when on standby, with grid available ) drop constantly also, mine can drop by one percent every hour to hour and a half, but shows around 10 watt draw on the analogue ( dial ) screen
Depending on the battery's BMS, the BMS can force the inverter to discharge at an interval I noticed. If you have battery connected without BMS this happens less. For me its about 1% over a few hours.

i have asked Sunsynk about it a few times, they haven't come back with an answer
when the battery reaches 20 percent in morning before pv production starts up, then instead of a draw on the battery, it is charged from the grid at around 60 watts

Battery temp summer vs winter

Hardly ever get to 25° in winter with summer getting as high as 34°.

Another contributing factor is that I now have 4 batteries so the current draw is spread more now than just with the 3 batteries before.

Lower temp is better for battery health. Screenshot_20210611-125031_SOLARMAN%20Smart.jpg Screenshot_20210611-125113_SOLARMAN%20Smart.jpg

I'm looking to get two of these. Is there maybe a better alternative. Don't want to waste 10K.

@RedViking
best price currently for that Hubble LiFePO4 is R4995 from PACE Energy.

I found the 100Ah 1.2kWh LiFePO4 battery below for R4699 which is an excellent price point compared to the R8 000 - R10 000 for other 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries. / R5999 for Mecer LiFePO4 from eGadgets or Bidorbuy / R4995 for the Hubble above.

(should last 10 years compared to 1 - 2 years for a normal Lead/Acid, Gel or AGM battery costing R2350)

together with the 12 volt version of the Mecer inverter: 1000Watt IVR-1200MPPT (scroll down for image)
(the only downside is that the inverter isn't Pure Sine Wave)
R2099 from PC Link Computers

Hoselec LiFePO4 battery module 1.2kWh 100Ah 12V
(Note: for 12V systems only - these batteries can NOT be used in series)
R4699 from Doodah.co.za (free nationwide deilvery for orders over R1000)

Total price for inexpensive but relatively future-proof loadshedding backup = R6798

I have no experience with HOSELECT, but I have noticed that the warranty is 6 months vs Hubble S100's two years. Another thing is that the BMS appears to be a little outdated, it's unable to be placed in series, never mind parallel. The newer S100s do both, and are designed as a lead replacement battery, their BMS does not charge to 100% of the lithium cell's capacity and thereforeethis wear is avoided. They are also locally supported.

Agreed that Mecer inverters generally offer good value, but buyers need to beware of slow charging rates, affecting system performance when there are multiple load shedding cycles in close succession.

An often overlooked fact that is key to the longevity and reliability of a system is battery cable thickness and length, as well as regular inspection and maintenance of the connector lugs. The former is especially true when the purchaser is on a tight budget.

Yeah both GoodWe and Sunsynk are true hybrid inverters unlike the Axperts where even the one that says its a true hybrid is not really.

Sunsynk is preferred because its difficult to impossible to beat the value for money you get with it.
Why do you say the Axpert hybrids aren't true hybrids?
I am considering getting one

I understand that they use either grid or offgrid power, while a true hybrid blends by using eg solar and if short from grid.

An axpert would detect shortage and switch to use 100% grid power.

But let the inhouse experts confirm if my understanding is correct.

There are some that blend like the Axpert King.

I see on the Hubble S-100 spec sheet that the cells are "2nd Life Prismatic LiFePO4" - does this mean they have been previously Used and refurbished ?

Hubble S-100s use 2nd-life prismatic cells, it is no secret, clearly denoted on their brochures. So one can see it two ways:
1) Quality through initial selection, and then subjected to the most thorough and rigorous testing, to far higher standards than any virgin batteries have ever seen, and then tested and selected again; or
2) The cells are "used".
The latter is usually seen by snobbish elitists who consider all customers to have Victron budgets.
Personally, I am nor a cell-snob. Considering the target market (lead replacement), it's a great product that closes the substantial pricing gap between LA and LiFePO4.

Recycled cells.

consider the fact that even brand new cells experience failure, here you’re talking about recycled cells.

insult to injury, it’s a local company doing this, with no brand power.

I say buy if you have the money to take this risk, I mean some people have to do the dirty work for the others right?

No insult of offence intended.

What is the warranty/guarantee?

That would determine for me the issue.

Then price for new vs 2nd hand would also need to be considered. Is the savings worth it.

The way I see it is they probably come from electric buses where every bit of capacity counts as they want to get max km out of a charge. This doesn't matter for home use where energy density is a non issue and they are for example taking 120Ah cells that are at 80% life left and selling it as 100Ah, but I'm just assuming here.

The older Hubble S100s (which could not be placed in both series and parallel simultaneously) had a 5 year warranty. The newer ones (which are capable of the above) have a two year warranty. All S100s have a design life of 15 years.
The HOSELECT has a 6 month warranty.
