Other end of the battery cable and the inverter side where they are attached.

Still need to put a fuse and isolator switch between the batteries and inverter which means that I will need to cut the supplied battery cables. View attachment 878839 View attachment 878841

Why need to cut battery cable for fuse and isolator? Would assume cables would accomodate this if required or is this a voluntary choice?

I ended up not putting in the fuse as you don't necessarily need it for lithium batteries.

The battery cable to the inverter is fairly long for my installation so would have been easier to just cut the cable and insert the fuse then reattach the cable to the other end of the fuse. Instead of buying another 35mm cable to run from the fuse to the inverter. They do recommend a 35mm battery cable instead of the pylontech supplied 25mm battery cable to the inverter.

I still ended up cutting off the lugs as they were too small to fit the inverter bolts.

No 50mm cable for 8KV, 35 mm cable is for 5KV.

Thats why your lugs probably too small?

Means have to get 50mm cable with these lugs. If batteries don't have right cables nor lugs.
Please note that the Pylontech batteries only comes with the interconnecting cables between the batteries, the cables from the batteries to the inverter needs to be bought seperately.

Do you know if they make higher rated cables for the inverter connection?

My setup seems to be doing fine with the supplied battery cables even though they are under rated.

What I have found in my research is that if your are going to connect more than two batteries then you can use a busbar. So you would connect the cables from the batteries to the busbar and then get bigger cables from the busbar to the inverter.

When I'm ready to increase my battery bank I'll be doing them in 2 stacks of 4 batteries connected to a busbar and from there a fuse to the inverter.

You should be fine using the supplied cable with two batteries. The BMS also manages charge and discharge rates.

True, it is just scandalous that they give you the interconnecting ones even when you buy one battery but don't give you the most important ones.

i agree, but it would also push the price per unit up i guess, i.e you only need one set for a system, but if you buy 4 batteries then they give you 4?

I guess there's this. Also, are inverter connections generic?

AFAIK you only get the standard cable pack from Pylontech, but you can perhaps confirm with your supplier if there is a higher rated pack available.

Edit:
This shows that for inverters up to 5kw you will only need one cable pack, but for inverters between 5 and 10kw, you will run double cables from the batteries.

They are in a way that it is just lugs that you bolt on, the difference will just be in the sizes. It's pretty straightforward on the DC side, it's the AC side where they usually get fancy.
