I bought this 8,75kw Rato for R20k. Works like a bomb. I suicide cable with two 16amp plug tops on 2,5mm cabtyre cable and it all works like a charm.

I was expecting the flak, manual changeover in progress but I am the designated suicide operative.

What does the Rato offer for R9000 more than the Mac Afric 8.75kVA from Adenorff:

The Rato is an inverter generator.

I'm also getting quotes on a generator. I did want to go inverter but a nice 12kva genny would mean I don't really have to care which AC I left on, whether a geyser decided to warm up or someone was boiling the kettle when the load shedding happens. It just comes on automagically and does its thing...

So to whoever is watching this thread:

My Ardenorff MacAfrica 6.5kVa is a running nicely, powering my old double door Defy Fridge and my newer Samsung Inverter Fridge including two laptops and a monitor. Unfortunately, ran out of leads, so cannot connect the bedroom up (wife was watching tv whilst I work in a section of the lounge).
