Generic Novatel U740 software link needed please

Does anyone have a link for downloading the generic Novatel Merlin U740 data card software, to use instead of the bundled Vodafone Dashboard?

Accessing the Novatel site seems only to yield a message that software is available from the cellular provider, but others on this forum have praised generic Novatel software for being less bloated and resource-hungry than the Dashboard.

AFAIK it is the Huawei HSDPA data card for which Huawei have generic software, I don't recall a generic Novatel dashboard haing been mentioned...
