I have a 70 year old American visitor visiting at the end of a Southern Africa tour.

There's a 24 hour lay-over in Joburg before flying north.

The itinerary from the tour suggests a good way for her to spend this is .... to visit Jozi, The CBD.

Personally I would rather walk through the Kruger Park at night.
