Uhm, Dewani wasn't a tourist murder.

The Van Breda's weren't tourists.

These three are the same no ?

Not a tourist murder.

Also not a tourist murder, the son killed them, not a local.

A couple that Ms. Sisulu may have missed?

It seems we do actually have extremely few tourist murders compared to some countries.

Very safe place. You might not get murdered, but you will get hijacked, abducted and raped. WAKANDA 4 EVA
A British tourist in South Africa was raped by a gang of men who shot dead a motorist who tried to help her, it emerged yesterday.

The woman, 29, had stopped at a remote beauty spot in the Kruger national park with a 26-year-old South African man - thought to be her boyfriend - when four men hijacked them at gunpoint on Saturday afternoon.

They were close to Sabie, in the north-eastern province of Mpumalanga, and not far from Pilgrim's Rest, where British holidaymaker Diane Conway was shot dead and her husband Jon was injured in a robbery last month.

The attackers forced the couple into another vehicle and drove around for more than 14 hours, raping the woman repeatedly. The ordeal only ended when the car overturned in an accident near Barberton - more than 120 miles from the site of the abduction - on Sunday morning.

A passing driver who stopped to help was shot in the head, allegedly by the gang, who fled. Domingo Chamber, a 34-year-old South African, died at the scene.

An Israeli woman was gang-raped in South Africa over the weekend, local police said Monday.

The tourist and her two companions were attacked the day before at a cabin in Mpumalanga, a police spokesperson said, according to local media reports.

All three of the victims in the incident were also robbed.

Police launched a manhunt for four men who carried out the attack.

“The men raped the woman and also robbed the three of their personal belongings before fleeing the scene,” the police spokesperson said, according to a report from the Times newspaper of South Africa.

A spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesman: "SAPS can confirm that the country of birth of the victim is Ireland.

"That has been confirmed through her passport which the Investigating Officer has on the case docket."

The incident is now being investigated by the FSC unit in the South African Police Service.

Colonel Sibongile Soci said: "SAPS can confirm that a rape case has been registered and is under investigation by Uitenhage FCS.

"The team of investigators has already began searching for leads and obtaining the statements from the group who were with the victim during their visit.

They have been towing party line since 94.

When Helen Zille did the audacious thing and have a campaign called: Stop Zuma, the media went into a hissy fit because the messiah was being questioned.
Also, while we're on the topic of journalism and their professionalism. When Penny Sparrow did what she did it was constantly covered. A month or so ago we had this teacher of the "majority ethnicity" doing about the same..... well the media coverage wasn't the same.

Seems like journos love stirring up shite so that their papers can sell

The black "Penny Sparrow" incident shortly after the white Penny Sparrow, caught on camera, also died a quick death in the media.

It's all very sad and shocking and I don't want to detract from the tourists murder, but where is the media briefing for the 60 South Africans murdered every day?

Also great that the police are ramping up presence in this troublesome tourist hotspot, but what about the rest of us you fscking incompetent fscks?:mad::mad:

You aren't important, because you very likely don't have Foreign Currency, and you can't make the country "look" bad when you go home after your little safari.

Government does not stop crime. They hold press releases! So that's all you'll get where your help is concerned

The statement under inspection is the number of tourists murdered.
No, the statement under inspection is that the country is safe.

If a bunch of people from Yurp were coming here on holiday, would you tell them they can go everywhere they want at any time of day because Lindiwe Sisulu says the country is safe.

Indeed, however an assertion is made based on the statement. (South Africa is safe). This is a false assertion as safety is not only dependant on not being murdered.

Tourist deaths as a percentage of those who visit us is a minute number.

Of course if you spin an article like this one, one would think it's not safe to step outside your door in Cape Town.

Cape Town is a well-known tourist hotspot, but also one of the most divided and dangerous cities in the world.

It has seen an average of eight murders a day
, for the first six months of this year.

In one weekend in July, 43 people were killed.

Eight murders a day - true.

But then all these murders occurred in a small area where locals do not go, tourists even less.

How many tourists have actually been killed in Cape Town.

Is Cape Town safe for tourists ?

Is South Africa safe for tourists, as safe as anywhere else and safer than many.

It's safer than Israel.

Between 2009 and 2016, 598 Americans were killed in Mexico. Scary place for tourists...

Once again, what is the percentage killed - in the same period, Mexico had 71 million American tourists meaning only 0.84 Americans were killed per 100,000 visitors.

Your odds of not returning home are small, very small.

I also questioned this topic when I first read it, but as loathe as I am to agree with Sisulu, in this case she is not wrong.

You missed my point.
Safety is more than "you will survive"

Which country in the world could you say that for?
