Get your favourite band to SA with Inbound Sound

I love the idea. I will give the other promoters props for bring in some interesting bands to the country (especially Foo Fighters).

I'd love to see Incubus to play in SA. And legendary band Pearl Jam! My girlfriend would be stunned if Tool came over. And Rammstein returning would be amazing!

I am not too concerned with price, but I really appreciate it if you concentrated on the sound! I've left way too many concerts with sore ears. I want to go to a concert where the sound is balanced and not cause serious ear damage!

Without some kind of track record to back up your ability to actually get those bands here - I think you're gonna deter a lot of people by using a pay-to-use model at the start. If numbers are what determine the likelihood of getting a band here - surely you get the numbers in first, prove that you can do as advertised, and then start charging people to use the service?

Hi soar

Thanks for the feedback.

Understand exactly what you are getting at, makes perfect sense. However, I would ask you to please afford us the opportunity to "bare all" when we launch, and perhaps you will feel different about it.

I assure you there has been a lot of thought put into this, and we believe in the model. You will see :)

Incubus, and a show that I can go to with the wife, Pink would be awesome.

Not all bands have to be stadium shows though, the last RHCP one in CT was dissapointing. Crap sound. Long waiting in lines etc.

Rather have smaller venues and pump the sound like grandwest or some wine farm.

Hi ainsin

Thank you for the feedback, and glad you love the idea :)

We would use the existing infrastructure (concert organisers & ticket-houses) to put on the events. We would not organise the concert ourselves, so unfortunately we don't have a direct hand in the sound quality. I do hear what you say, as I personally have had bad experiences at the Cape Town stadium.

We have made some good connections though, and will certainly whisper in their ear ;)

I agree on the sound issue.

But I guess it also depends on the band's own sound engineers and preference. For instance, I have been to 4 Bryan Adams shows, in three different venues both indoor and outdoor, and the sound was superbly clear and surprisingly powerful (as in big drums and guitars, feeling the sound through your body). Then I have been to stadium shows and other shows in the velodrome where the sound was very poor or lacking power. There is nothing worse for me than paying to watch a live act and wishing you could turn up the volume and actually hearing people talk next to you.

I have see too many shows where the speaker stacks are simply just too small for the venue. So either the sound volume is too low or set too high for the speakers to handle that you end up with screeching pain without any substance.

Hi Stefanmuller

Pink is coming up a lot.

We are also in agreement that more emphasis should be placed on quality over numbers. Rather have a few smaller shows, than one big show with poor sound.

In the Cape Town area, the Bellville Velodrome has a lot to offer.

The problem with the Bellville Velodrome is that if you cant fill it at least half way, the sound is a bit thin and echoes because the venue has a huge volume and is surrounded by cement and a tin roof. It is ideal for an alternative for stadium bands or crowds of at least 15 000. I guess you can overcome that by engineering the sound correctly.

The best venue is probably Grand West but then you are limited to a max of about 12 000 people. Some of the best live shows in the US are held in ice hockey or basketball stadiums which we dont have in SA. The velodrome is considerably bigger but a lot smaller than our rugby stadiums so is a good bet if you can fill it with enough people.

Cool. Looking forward to seeing the site go live and this thing taking off successfully. Nine Inch Nails and Beardyman are top of the list . Also I'd be very keen on artists performing in smaller, less 'concertey' venues...something a bit more intimate rather than these huge venues all the time.

Anyway thx for the replies and good luck with the launch.
