I want to get an 8mbps internet account, but according to Telkom's website, my street/area only has support for up to 4mbps. Is there a way to get Telkom to install support for faster speeds in the area, specially if I'm (at least initially) the only person in the area that will be using it?
Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the chances of getting Telkom to upgrade your local exchange are pretty much none existent. Your best chance of getting anything faster is if OpenServe or someone else installs fiber into your area.

Yip, unfortunately I have exactly the same issue - currently paying more than R1200 for LTE coverage. Helkom doesn't give a crap about 100 people wanting faster / fiber or anything - been seeing the 'Your area could have coverage' for the last 2 years. 4Mbps 'Broadband' haha, what a joke in Africa....

According to the Telkom website I can only get 40mbs, but I am on 10mbs and I do get that speed.

My line is mama by Afrihost and I ordered the 10mb upgrade through their control panel and to my surprise it worked
