And this is how AIDS can wipe out Africa. Even though they have a means to prevent further spread of AIDS, they smoke it and die.

Sad.

total stupidity

So are they going to make ARV's illegal then?
Then you'd have to buy it from your local dealer.

So no drugs are free? The goverment is giving us drugs for free..... this country sounds like a druggie heaven:D

But i guess you can smoke panado and get high too...:(

Yes, they don't die of aids fifteen years from now.

They die of lung cancer in only ten years.

Or better, get shot by the police in a drug related crime in only two years.

There have been reports in the past of young women contacting HIV
purposefully in order to benefit from the grant.

The more kids you have with aids the more money you get from our gov....

OK, now that is just so wrong. So the government actually gives monetary motivation for these people to get infected....
What are they thinking? These people are poor and realy struggling and now the government gives this choice: "You might die of aids but have some money. Or you will die of hunger"

Jip in SA they reward you for having kids with HIV.....

you get a social grant for kids without HIV but you get extra for supporting kids with HIV... I think they thought they will encourage people to help children whose parents died, but like everything else it turned to doodoo..

Yep like most things it starts out with very good intentions and then very quickly goes the opposite direction....

ARVs are to boost the patient's immune system so that the onset of "AIDS" is delayed. They do not cure HIV or help prevent the spread of the virus.

Sorry, let me rephrase: Instead of taking their medicine and living productive lives, caring for their children and contributing to society, they smoke the medicine and die, leaving their children and families in the care of the government.

Yep. Good old Africa. Take anything that can help people and turn it into the complete opposite. Have to love this place:(
