Getting Sim Number to port to vodacom

Hi ,

Hope someone can advise, i need to port my cellc prepaid (which the contract expired and converted to prepaid) to vodacom prepaid , so i went and bought a prepaid nano sim card.

the process for porting says sms the sim number but there is no number on the packaging only puk & pin , which says the number will be assigned once activated.

from what i remember a few years ago when porting , was that you do not insert the new sim into a phone when porting, is this correct

any idea how i go about the process to port my existing number with the sim card i just bought, that has no sim number.

Ok guys just ignore, i honestly had no clue that the long nos on the sim pack was the sim nos, on the vodacom website they use a 10 digit nos as an example which i honestly thought was the actual cell nos for the sim card. found a more informative example below.


STEP 3:The customer must then send “portme xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx’ (where the x represents the Vodacom Prepaid Starter Pack SIM number)” e.g portme 89163000000001537356 to 0827678287 using their existing SIM card in their cellphone.
