Firstly, does your geyser have a 2 pole isolator? It will look something like this but could be any colour.
You need to drop your main switch before doing anything.
The red wire coming out the bottom of this switch is the Live and goes into the top connector of the timer labeled L. L means live. Then connect the red wire going to the geyser to the bottom connection on the timer. There is only 1 so fairly easy.
This now makes the timer into a switch, but the timer still needs a neutral so that it has power. The black wire from the isolator goes to the geyser AND to the N connector on the timer. If your geyser only has a single pole isolator, you need to take a neutral (black) wire from the neutral bus to the N connector on the top of the timer. A neutral bus is a series of screw terminals with lots of black wires connected. Don't confuse it with the earth bus that will have green/yellow or bare wires.
