At a minimum these Ministers should be taxed for the benefits which extend beyond themselves. If you bring the wife and she add R100k to the trip, then you should get taxed for that R100k as a benefit.

There is zero ****ing reason why you should get to take the wife and kids on a business trip for free.

Pretty sure they get taxed on it, but then I'm pretty sure they get an additional top-up to cover the tax. That's just how things like this roll.

In Nene's case, that expense is really not bad. Only R125,000 on travel expenses since his reappointment? That's cheap. Half a million between 2014 and 2015, when he was traveling internationally? That's not enough for one cross-country trip for Lindiwe Sisilu. His wife seems really nice too.

Yup. Generally acting to the letter of the law is open to abuse and a general culture of following the spirit of the law would be great. But difficult to implement.
