Girl slain, 7 injured in Joburg shootout

A little girl was shot dead in a shootout in the Johannesburg CBD in which seven other people were wounded, Netcare 911 said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Nick Dollman could not give details as to what had led to the shootout, but said emergency personnel had attended to the scene on the corner of Bree and Wanderers roads.

He said multiple shots were fired, and paramedics attended to eight people who had been shot, including the little girl who was shot in the head and died on the scene.

Three of the other seven wounded were in critical condition, and they were all civilians. They were transported to the Helen Joseph and Johannesburg hospitals.


Police could not be reached for information on what had led to the shooting.

In the UK, when a crime is commited. They put big signboards there stating what crime had been commited and has a number for witnesses to call. Then cops walk up and down the street knocking on doors and asking the peeps if they saw anything.
Also the cops there get their own little area to look after and just concentrate on crime in their area. Plus, theres lots of them and when you phone the police they actually show up.
