Both my points are plausible scenarios, and it could be both, but the Russians need to produce weapons, and I am leaning towards us providing them with essential components they would otherwise not have access to under imposed restrictions. Yes, there is a chance that we could help them to complete weapon systems that are in use against Ukraine.

Agreed and I still stick with my view that it was an off the books Zuma type deal to benefit venal (is there any other type?) individuals in the ANC personally, not SA.

There are still many questions which remain unanswered. Sure, the Russians had other more covert and expedited means to get SA arms into their domain, should that have been their plan, unless the Lady R was an attempt to conceal any traces to SA, but stumbled in doing so. In my view, the Lady R was on a gun run, trading arms (said broadly) port to port.

It is the secrecy surrounding the Lady R in how it came to berth at an SA naval base in which the SA Navy is now alleged to have been side-lined. There is something not sound here, a mystery, and Armscor did await them. Many things need to be cleared up, and I am not in the view that an inquiry will get any answers.

Fleet command, SANDF command, its respective ministry, and both Armscor's board and executive committee, as well as Denel, and their respective ministry, would be core to persons being interviewed by the inquiry. They will have their story ready, and it could take a long time to process.
