When did dog walking become a big thing over there? I hardly ever saw it in my 35 years of living there...
That's because in spite of some people imagining hundreds walking their dog at the same time on the same street that's not how it happens. Just like people who go out for a run or to ride their bicycle.

Sure, and they're going to phone the shop to confirm there was no stock when don't come back with anything. Are they going to compare what was bought against our shopping list? Will we be arrested for buying something we hadn't planned to buy?
Shopping lists ? , I weep for the younger generation, no sense of adventure :)

Although suddenly everyone will say now that they are joggers... I say time the people, if they can't run at least a 6 minute km they aren't jogging - lock them up

LOCKDOWN PROCEDURES:

The following will not necessarily be made public. Please adhere to these rules during the lockdown, and you will be safe! Not adhering to these rules will result in INSTANT arrest!

1. Shops will NOT remain open like they are now. Only CERTAIN shops will be open at DESIGNATED times. Please stay up to date with these times. It will be made available to the public. Only a certain number of people will be allowed inside the shop at a time.

2. Roadblocks will be implemented EVERYWHERE. To get to your destination, you will have to go through a road block, and your license will be scanned. This will keep track of your travels. The army will patrol everywhere to make sure nobody is on the streets.

3. You will only be allowed to travel once every 2 to 3 days to shops, etc. Unless you are an employee exempt from the lockdown. If you travel too much, you will be arrested.

4. You are not allowed to travel in pairs. You MUST travel ALONE. Only 1 person per car. Unless you are in transportation services.

5. When travelling, you HAVE to wear a mask and gloves. If you do not have this, it will be provided for you at the road block.

6. When travelling back from where you went, you will pass another roadblock, where you have to provide PROOF of what you bought, and where. Keep you receipts EVERY TIME you buy something.

7. Please do not make plans to walk your dog, go on a hike, or even cycle. This will NOT be allowed.

Stay safe guys, and be kind to employees who risk their lives to keep you safe. They are our heroes.

Just got this...don't think dog walking is allowed...
Complete bollocks. Never mind that they would have to declare a full state of emergency with de facto martial law for this, the army/SAPS will be thinly stretched as it is, so it is highly unlikely that they would have anything near the manpower or logistical capability to put roadblocks up all over the place and check and log IDs to see how many times you are going to the shop.

Here is my sad prediction. More people are going to die from being shot by the police/military than will die from C-19.

I really do hope I am wrong on this.
Yeah , really hope there are people explaining to the thousands of less fortunate who have to fetch water etc, that they still may do so :(

Especially considering all the hype, panic and fake news floating around , that doesnt help their situation in the least.

Most people do not even walk their dog.
Most people do not jog
Most people do not own a bike.

But hey, by the sound of people moaning we are the fittest ,fastest dog walking/ cycling nation on earth.

The President has asked the country to make a huge sacrifice to contain this virus, and then the health minister goes and undermines it all in one interview with his reckless statements. The point of this lockdown is to contain the spread of the virus. if we're all going to be running in the streets and going out of our houses every day to do all kinds of things, then it is all a waste of time.

I fully support being able to go for a walk, whether or not you take your dog. It's the healthiest thing you can do, and not everyone lives in a house. Plenty of people stay in small flats, let alone shacks and it is actually critical for mental (and physical health) that you can at least walk around the block if you want to. You can easily steer well clear of other people if you're out in the open.

I guess the problem, though, is that in SA we love to break rules and push boundaries. Everyone will end up going to the local park with their papsaks and having a fat party, which will ruin it for everyone. So maybe the rule should be that you can go out for a walk/jog/etc but must be alone at all times, or with max one member of your household? Or something like that - as Germany has done by banning all gatherings of more than 2 people?

Most people are hysterical.
They are building bunkers
They hoarded all the TP and milk,
They are planing on drinking milk and having shyts.

So guys stop worrying. None of them are going to take buster for a walk

If you think that the few people that will be running and taking dogs for walks are worse than what has been happening for the last 2 days and will continue up until Thursday you have a great imagination.
We are not a healthy fit nation.
Don't worry the streets will not look like the start of the comrades.

Dude, the government is forcing everyone to stand in a dirty shopping centre queue with people coughing and sneezing all over the place.
Yet someone taking a jog away from other people is the problem.

If they could just clarify and give official statements on these things, then we can plan our lives accordingly.

Like others have said though... a lot of people will of course abuse any loophole they can find. They allow jogging and suddenly everyone is going for massive group walks.

Limit walking/jogging to only be people from your own household with a limit of 2 or 3.

The thing that you need to explain to them is this.... (1) All it takes is just one person in the estate/block to get the virus (2) that person who is infected won't know it for 14 days. (3) in all time they will be breathing, coughing, spitting on the ground in the estate and (4) all of you will be walking the virus into your homes. An infected person release thousands of units of the virus with each breath in mist form, which then settles to the ground. Dogs, people and all foot traffic will carry that into each and every unit.
This virus doesn't show mercy and it doesn't discriminate. A Fence means nothing to the virus. Inside the estate/suburb is the same as outside the estate. It will fall to the ground exactly the same. The estimated (unseen) infection rate in SA has already passed one Million people. That means one out of every 50 people are already infected. Do you REALLY want to take that chance?

This is social isolation. Not Quarantine.
Use your brain.
Keep your distance.
Exactly my son is upstairs, I'm in the lounge and my fiancee is in the study. And I just checked the dog is in the garden waiting to be shaved.

Sometimes before you spread even something remotely true. Just think for a bit.

Was there an order to shoot disobedient people?
No, but it will happen when disobedient people crowd together and start attacking the people who want to separate them. Like what happened at Marikana, and probably all the other massacres in this country.

You are talking millions of desperate people vs a bunch of really badly trained soldiers/police that are probably just as scared as the people they are meant to protect.

So what you are saying is that our only hope is full hazmat suits if we leave the house?
