Please help me from your previous experiences.... I have two kids, boy who is 6 and girl how is 7, the three of us aren't always together because life is b!tch...sometimes. So we will be together this coming Saturday and we always try do something amazing and make awesome memories whenever we are together.

They love riding stuff, from horses to quad-bikes to whatever that is mobile and they can control. How's Gold Reef City on a Saturday naturally, is not too packed? Do they have swimming pools? Are rides awesome and friendly on the pocket? For me... the dad, what can I do, is there a bar nearby? :)...

Please suggest any other jolly place we can visit that you have visited yourself with your kids... Pretoria or JHB I do not mind travelling.

Entry is pricey but the rides are all free. No pools. There are some nice restaurants and some fast food joints inside whatever you prefer. Some of the restaurants will be able to serve you a beer.

As far as how busy the place is, it is a gamble. Should be mostly quiet while exams are on but its a chance you will need to take...

Thank you for the response. Let me look for current entry price.

Entry is like R250 or R290 for the day, but all rides are free. Lot's of food places and drinking holes. Take a hat and sunscreen.

Thanks, looks like all the rides are closed... or do they open on Saturdays? https://www.tsogosun.com/gold-reef-city-casino/theme-park/rides-and-attractions
Notices:
  • The Theme Park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except during Gauteng public school holidays
  • We do not guarantee all rides will be available during the course of your visit. Some rides may become unavailable due to weather conditions or routine maintenance being done
  • Ride availability is updated at 09h00 daily on days the theme park is open
  • Most, if not all, of the rides are open on Saturdays - weather dependent.

I see on their site they say that theme park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays:

Maybe check tomorrow again and see if the rides are showing as open.

I have been on that mine trip so many times and just never get sick of it. GRC is one of my favourite places to visit when I am in JHB

Thank you. I have gathered all the information here and will definitely do it with the bambinos this weekend. I wish there was a Gautrain Route straight to GRF... It is quite a drive from Centurion.

You can take the GT and then a bus to Gold Reef. I know many people who have done that.
Ooops not sure the bus runs on a Saturday though

In Centurion a great place to go is The Big Red Barn.

See here - and they do serve wine and beer if I remember correctly (I hope) - or take your own and picnic. There are different courses for different ages and bravery levels.
Oh and you can take bicycles.

It was super awesome, it helped to buy tickets online... A LOT... I don't do queues very well, except on voting day... Thank you to everyone who gave input. Kids loved it, but I could not help but feel anxious about the safety of all those moving parts... It was time to put my faith in engineering... Lovely stuff!!!
