Yes, they did. Thinking back now, everyone I know with a VAG that parks in the sun mostly had a sagging head liner, those that don't, don't have that problem. What was up with the head liner? Did the car stand outside in the sun a lot? I have never, ever had a head liner fail in any of my VAG cars, including my 1982 VW Golf GLS which despite it's age is still looking pretty good.
Why people do this is beyond me. 800k gets you a mint 2018 RS3 with freeway plan intact which can easily be extended beyond 200km and 10 years.Ya - I am early to the party.
S3 at 850k or Golf R at 750k - would need to save 100k on top of what I planned for if I went the route of an S3.
Buying a house, getting married (COVID allowing) etc means I'd rather be prepped early in terms of finances as there is a lot of outlay expected over the next 10 months.

So you actually never driven one, or the RS for that matter?both solid cars but nothing to blow your hair away.I know somebody who had the S3 and they said it was a fast car but boring , and hence sold it after only a year or so.I guess the same holds true for the R.Fast daily drivers but meh![]()

My Suggestion would beHi there all,
Towards the beginning of next year, I'll look at selling my 7.0 GTI and getting one of the two options listed in the title.
The forum was a great help in terms of purchasing the GTI and I have decided to reach out again.
Any thoughts on the two options listed aside from the cosmetic differences between the two? Reliability, Things to be aware of re motor plan, resale etc.
Thanks all
M140i would be a thrilling alternative.both solid cars but nothing to blow your hair away.I know somebody who had the S3 and they said it was a fast car but boring , and hence sold it after only a year or so.I guess the same holds true for the R.Fast daily drivers but meh![]()

yes, those things have depreciated massively because no one wants them, Thats why they were discontinued, because no one was buying them.Would you say the same of a Passat or a CC? Also discontinued.
Honestly the M140i would be the best alternative. Glad you said it first.M140i would be a thrilling alternative.

Had a VW Polo back in the day. Never again. Nothing seemed to be covered on the warranty. I replaced more on that car in it's warranty lifespan and for the 2 years after that expired than I did on my bakkie I got afterwards and that was 13 years old when I sold it.Hi there all,

If it does not have a chimney for an exhaust, ridiculous scoops and spoilers then it's boring, you don't have to waste your time driving it.So you actually never driven one, or the RS for that matter?
Its the best of the bunch, inline 6 in a hatchback, also getting more power out of that engine will be easier and safer than trying to extract more power from the VAG products. Lets not talk about the sound.I don't know if I am about that RWD life, wiggle at the back would be fun though, just have to watch it in the rain don't need to be driving into lampost lol - loads more power at the top end than either the S3 or R but how usable without getting locked up at some point I don't know.
Will drive one and see as it has been recommended by some friends of mine as well.
I had a few issues that were fixed under the Freeway plan. The extension might be pricy but in the long run it is worth it for me. Depending on the rim size, tyres can also be a bit expensive. I had to replace all 4 tyres at the same time which I think might be due to the awesome Quattro system but not 100% sure. Adblue is also covered under the Freeway plan and it takes about 15 minutes at the Audi dealership to fill. I haven't been keeping tabs on the Adblue so I'm not sure how long it lasts. It has just came off warranty at 120 000Km - as per the print out the last service was done on the 29 January 2021. The dealer is offering me an extended warranty at a cost of course.
I am interested in hearing about your ownership of the car

I test drove the car on Auto setting ( efficiency, auto, dynamic, individual) it felt underpowered, read up afterwards that if in auto and city driving the car will go to efficiency and reduce power, have you noticed this?
Hi,I thought as much, my parents have my brothers old Polo, parked on their driveway 24/7 in the Ballito weather and the head liner hangs like sleeve of wizard.
Get a Megane RS and put the rest into your bond and your new wife.Ya - I am early to the party.

Dislikes - The only real problem with every day driving is the size. When entering a parking lot I usually go where there are 3 open spaces next to each other. You can squeeze between cars but having a bit of space makes it much easier. The parking sensors and reverse camera makes reverse parking a breeze but getting out of the wide car can be problamatic if you have cars on either side of you.
Likes - Everything else. It is comfortable and fast with plenty of toys inside.
I usually stay in efficiency mode when driving. The turbo takes a while longer to kick in but you do get used to it. Flicking the gear lever back puts you in sport mode which makes your road tanker keep up with just about everything on the road. Highway driving with cruise control set to 120km/h I can get up to 15km/l although I usually sit around 10km/l with mixed driving.
Hi,
Any idea who fixes these head liners as mine is starting to come lose as well.
