Hi all

Please share thoughts on me buying a used 2013 golf 7 tsi comfortline dsg? Looking for responses from current owners and thoughts on the need for an extended warranty

That particular forum has more complaints and very little overall constructive feedback on the car

Have you tried starting a thread to see if you'll get the answers you're looking for? Other people might not have been asking the same questions.

What mileage?

I have a 2014 non DSG. Lovely car. Probably the best car I have ever owned. At the recent 15k service I was asked if we even drive the car. There were hardly any wear.

That particular forum gives some insight into some of the niggles that owners experience, and if you read a bit, you will see some excellent feedback.

11k, thats very low for a 2013.

DSG's have come a long way. If properly serviced(Oil changes), then it should last the cars lifetime. IMO, get the extended warranty from VW and not Motorite or one of those other 3rd party ones. Peace of mind.

These Golf 7's are exceptional vehicles and I cannot praise them enough insofar as build quality, lack of road noise and overall refinement together with standard features are concerned. We in fact considered the A class, 1 Series as well as new A3 prior to buying the Golf.

Hijack:

My wife's 2013 Golf TSI Highline manual with a number of extras (41 000km, Park assist and PDC, full leather, swivelling VW tow-bar, Xenons etc together with FSH @ VW) is currently for sale - let me know if you're interested.

Reason for selling - bought her a new Golf 7 GTI DSG, we just cannot get enough of them Golf 7's!

For interest sake in terms of reliability etc: I also own a Golf 7 GTI DSG and I took her for her 15k service during last week. I must admit that I really drive her quite hard with the subsequent result that my avg consumption sit around the 10.5l/100km mark, yet still have 85% brake-life left on both the front and rear.

Bulletproof.

Even if the Mechatronics unit dies (which is only relevant to older models) it's not nearly the cost or drama that VW direct will tell you it is, to repair.

I personally wouldn't bother with an extended warranty (I didn't when I bought a 2008 Golf GTI with 98000km on) and instead find a good third party mechanic and stop using the stealership the moment the standard warranty/plan expires.

If anything I would buy a DSG over a manual because it's impossible for someone to have abused it as opposed to the manual.
