Golf Thread: Discussion, News & Reviews

Woods no longer has what it takes at that level and must accept it. I have nothing against him, but the Americans are so obsessed with him that it irritates me. We did not see enough of the better players untill Woods had finished his dismal round.

On another note; It is almost unbelievable how the course condition is maintained over the week. On all other couses it shows wear and especially lots of divots by the 4th round while it is almost absent at Augusta. Tee boxes seem freshly laid and fairways show little to no evidence of divots. Clearly a lot of work and $$$ going in there.

Great success

Söderberg squandering a 8 shot lead eventually handing the tournament to Linn Grant in the Volvo Swedish mixed yesterday! The 3 put on 18....unbelievable. No wonder he had not won in almost 5 years.

Watched that,what a cluster fu#k :X3:

WTF is it with the Yanks? Do they hate the LIV players so much that they list De Chambeau as 58th even though he had won the US Open?

Don't know why the link to the score says Sam Burns! It is the score results in the link.

McIlroy hit a driver into the scrub on the 72nd hole and chipped-and-ran to within three feet. That left him with a putt from 26 inches to stay in touch with the lead, but a second miss over the last three holes all but handed the title to DeChambeau, who needed par from a sketchy lie to close the show. While McIlroy calmly gnawed at a Powerbar in the scoring area, DeChambeau sent it within four of the pin. The result was a handshake away.

They were the 497th and 498th putts from inside three feet that McIlroy had attempted this year. He’d made each of the previous 496, but it’s Sunday’s pair that will be remembered the longest.

That has to hurt.

Great win by Bryson.

That final 18th was something else.

The 152nd Open tees off today from Royal Troon.
I'm not going to lie. All the bickering between the players and administrators has put me off golf a bit. I used to watch a fair amount but have hardly watched any this last year.

Yeah, also not as invested as I used to be. Partly because SA players just seem to have gone off the boil in recent times. Not sure where our best ranked player currently is, but would be surprised if it's top 50. Still, I do enjoy the Open, so will try catch as much of it as I can this year.

One more day of having to see Woods. I'm so fed up with the broadcasters showing him in stead of the better players. He's on +8, 14 off the pace after round 1. Again he won't make the cut , so fortunately we can watch golf over the weekend.

Els is sadly +11! Top SA'ners are Lawrence and Burmester on level.

Some huge names projected to miss the cut. Woods, McIlroy, Oosthuizen, Dechambeau, Fleetwood, Cam Smith, Stenson, Zach Johnson, Hovland.. The list goes on.

Horrendous playing conditions. I would also wanna get out of there asap

Yeah money is on Lowry to win but lead can evaporate quickly on this course, hoping Dean can put in a solid round tomorrow and who knows anything can happen on the last day.

See Lawrence carded a 65 to get - 3 and with difficult conditions top guys might drop a few shots so he might be in the mix tomorrow.

And just like we've got a Saffa I've never heard of before leading the thing with nine holes to play. Suddenly my interest is piqued.

Where'd this guy come from?

I could lose a bucket of balls trying to drive off that 11th tree..

Maybe 20 into the railroad and 30 into the bushes.

He's playing in the DP World Tour (European Tour). Hope he can hold on and win this
