I may be soon.Right now I'm trying to decide which of my bodies to sell in order to finance a new body, the 7D or my 1DmkIII.
PM me a price if you want to dump the 7d

Nothing wrong with the MkIII at all, I just want something with higher ISO capabilities.I see. Is the 1DmkIII lacking in some respect? Or have you simply busted the MTBF on the shutter?![]()
Will do.PM me a price if you want to dump the 7d![]()
Looks like it makes sense to put it off until I go to the UK in early May. If I claim the VAT back on departure it makes it cheaper than SA or the US.
I don't know if you can being a UK resident. In your case I would have preordered it from Dixons at the terminal - my mother saved a bomb on her MacBook Air when she came out here a couple of months ago.Ooh, I wonder if I can claim the VAT on my 7D back when I fly to S.A. on Wednesday? I bought it only a month ago![]()
Although if you're travelling on a SA passport you might be able to pull a fast one.VAT refunds for visitors to the UK
If you are visiting the UK from another country and you buy goods in the UK, then when you leave, you may be entitled to a refund of the VAT you paid on them. However, in most cases this will only apply if you live outside the European Union (EU) and you're travelling back to a country outside the EU.
Koffiejunkie - where did you pick up your 7D from?![]()
Thanks - they seem to be £20 more than Jessops - are they the type to haggle?Camera World on Wells street, just off Oxford street.

I'll see which one is easier to find when I'm there and then sell off the 7D with the grip when I get back to SA. That will probably fetch a better price here anyway. On what, the 1DmkIV? They're open to the idea but I haven't tried. I find the price difference is more than worth the difference in how they treat their customers.
I'll see which one is easier to find
Nah, I'm loving the Lowepro I picked up a short while back - though I'm worried they might reject it as my carry on bag.If you're in that area, you can stop by the Crumpler shop too - it's just down the road.
When are you coming over?

I was originally thinking of just bringing my Kata bag but the second body won't fit in that.
Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW - posted about it here (with a pic) http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/277625-Backpack-Advice?p=5574285&viewfull=1#post5574285Which one is that? My LowePro Fastpack 250 is heavily travelled. It gets more attention that I'd like, but I've never been prevented from taking it as luggage. I've seen the 350 too, it's only a tiny bit bigger on the outside.
After my last round of purchases, my Crumper Pretty Boy isn't big enough any more to fit everything. My other crumpler is bigger than I'd like to travel with, but I might have to.
Don't forget sales tax . . . and a lack of warranty once you get back to SA so go get it early and shoot like mad.I see that SACAMERA are selling the 7D for R 15,352.00 (body only) that is a darn good price.

I am after a new Canon 7D, but will wait - next month I fly to the USA for 10 days, and will buy one from Fry's or Best Buy in Indianapolis - $ 1699.00
1/8000th is typical.I currently have a like new 500D, but am looking for the fastest shutter speed I can get - I have been through all the pro camera's and see that 1/8000 is the fastest ?
I am also wanting a high frame per second camera - the 7D at 8 fps looks good
