Guys for now let's not give sentech grief about this - there are some good things to this - it might sound strange but all will be revealed in time .... :) The article was not supposed to go out but it was just too good to be true so ITWeb wanted to be the first to send this out. It is a bit wrong there are 2400+ users listed.
At the moment I assure you that Sentech HQ is having a very very bad day

I have chatted to Marcel Raath, and have basically said to him that we now need to engage in something constructive, instead of destructive. I'd like MyWireless to work.

During our conversation, we've agreed to have a Sentech 'open day' where users can air their views, and we can get the information we want directly from Sentech would be the best way forward. This media war has gone far enough in my opinion, and quite frankly I'm tired of it, and the lack of results so far.

He was very agreeable and asked me to supply him with a date, and some plans. I think we can use this opportunity to constructively engage with Sentech, get the real view from them and for them to get the real view from us. I need to mill over this a bit with a few other people, and will come back to this forum shortly to explain what I think we need to do and what the event details might look like.

Let's get things sorted out.

I fail to see anything positive about confidential information about clients being emailed all over the show !

I do agree that continuing this media thing won't get anybody anywhere, but do you really think talking with Sentech will make any difference ?

As for anyone that received this list, do the right thing and keep it private, or better yet, delete it. You and I both know that it's the right thing to do. Have it on your own conscience. Whilst being a monumental blunder, this is pretty serious on not something to be taken lightly... Just my view: Use it, don't use it.

The confidentiality issue is something that Sentech has to address, in my opinion. And when I mean 'talk' with Sentech I don't mean talk. I want to insist that they show us the system, explain to us what is wrong, show me the IPWireless engineer working on the problem, and show, in front of my eyes at their tower in Radiokop that the service can work.

I agree that media wars don't work beyond a point, but sometimes it's necessary and in this case it has forced Sentech to pay attention, to hear our gripes and talk to us. It's served its purpose, but where to from here? We've forced them to talk, so let's talk.

Remember Winston Churchill's "Jaw-jaw is better than war-war"? Hopefully more will come of this than Chamberlain's famous statement, "I have met with Hitler and he is an honourable man." Here endeth the history lesson.

I have an inferiority complex. But it's only a little one.

Sue for what? Unless you can prove damages, what's the point and what's your case?

I dont think this problem is as widespread as it seems. By the looks of things only a handful (if that) received the email. I know I did not (but to be fair, the sucky service has taken my normal mailserver offline).

So do we have a usable figure i.t.o number of users?

Guys, lets view this as the perfect oppurtunity to twist Sentech's arm into action, i agree with the rodent, for weeks we have been looking to get a card we can play against them, the time is now! If that fails then we can always just mail everyone on the list and call them to action on myADSL

Seriously, i know of two people who received the list, if anyone else got it, please DONT BE STUPID! Don't do anything that i would do... or something [:0]

You would only have substantial basis for legal proceeding if some form of damage/harm came from someone abusing the list. You could then hold Sentech liable for 'contributory negligence' on their part and claim compensation from them throu legal action in the court

They have breached the *confidentiality agreement* haven't they. I'm not intitled to use my modem to it's full potential but they may give out my PERSONAL detail. What do you mean we can't sue?!? DOES NOT COMPUTE....

The 'Sentech Open Day' idea is a fine one. As much as some of you are enjoying the war on Sentech, I for one would just like a usable service.

The open day sounds like a good idea. My only concern is that they will dance around direct questions like they have been doing this past few months. I would like to believe that if we can have a meeting,(providing and they are honest and straight) we could straighten out the problems and then BROADBAND FREEDOM[:D][:D][:D]

BTW, when DOES Michelle Potgieter have a clue on what is going on in this company....

I'd love to be at that open day

noone : "So Michelle, go into control panel and uninstall MyWireless Dialer"
Michelle : "I have no clue what you just said, but I promise to look into it"

I fully support the open day idea. Lately I have seen intermittent decent speed and would like to see the system work the way it should permanetly like it should.

Ok so the sending of all our Personal Data was a Mistake...
I would however like to know, who the original target of the email was.

Are they sending our Data to people behind our backs, and someone fooked up , sending it to us as well?

Or is it just such a BAD system, that random emails get generated with all their Clients details?

What is detailed in the Database? Our ID numbers? Credit Card Numbers? Passwords? Usernames? What excactly do the people that recieved these lists, know exactly about us?

I am shocked by this.

"IF" This was the US, Sentech would close doors tomorow. And as much as I agree that I dont want sentechs Demise, I do want a service that works, and I do want my details to be Confidential as per our contract.
